Luke Muehlhauser, author of the popular blog Common Sense Atheism, will be speaking at CSU on October 27th, from 4pm until 6pm. The speech will be held in the West Ballroom of the Lory Student Center. The talk will last approximately 40 minutes, after which there will be time for Q&A with the audience.
Luke writes on a variety of topics relating to atheism, science, etc. from a rigorous philosophical viewpoint. Some of his particular interests include:
* Secular morality
* Naturalism as a positive worldview
* Metaethics and naturalistic moral realism
* Moral psychology
* The Kalam cosmological argument
* Atheism, meaning, and purpose
From his website:
"[When] I admitted I couldn’t believe, [that] was the saddest and hardest day of my life. I felt like I had lost everything that mattered to me.
Later, I realized I had only lost something that never existed in the first place. In fact, I was now free to discover what really existed, and how the world I found myself really worked. It turned out I could have purpose, meaning, morality, and joy without God. So now I’m living a life of passion and joy without my childhood invisible friend."
