The Rule

8. Religious proselytizing is an automatic ban.

The Reason

There are a number of reasons for this. First, and most important is safty. Many religions have pronounced stiff penalties for apostasy and many religious followers have bent their will toward harming the non-religious as a matter of course. Because we want Atheist Nexus to be a place where people feel safe enough to let their guard down and just relax among like-minded people, we do not allow religious people to create accounts here.

Also, it's just another kind of spam. We don't allow spam here as per rule #9

The Action

Religious proselytizers are banned from the site.

thanx, keep the lunatics in the asylum. we dont need them here.

Amen! Now how about a prayer!

Our Father, who aren't in heaven

Hollow is thy name

Thy kingdom is done,

Free will has come

On Earth

As there is no heaven

Thank you.  Now I have something to utter under my breath when I have to attend the family religious gatherings... trying to talk to that lot is, well, trying...

Oh Farter who farts in Heaven

Hollow is his frame

Thy king in him come

Now his bum is numb

He hurteth

Coz now the Kings are Seven

I got kicked out of church for saying something close to this during Lords prayer while I was a teen, but I cannot remember the exact words, as it was spontaneous at the time.

Though it wasn't as big a deal as feeding the communion wafer to the birds outside the church, which nearly had me excommunicated.

Or so they threatened me.

Sounds like you were a funny hellion, Dog.

Threatening excommunication reminded me.  My ex-wife threatened to report me to the bishop for excommunication for telling her son that I didn't trust her anymore.  By that time, I  was certain that it was all BS, so I said "Go ahead."  I think that surprised her, as she never said another word about it.

I actually thought it would be fun to go through the excommunication process and tell them all why I was atheist.

Good one Stanley.

Well, yeah.  The conversation threads are Google-search-able.  Don't have to be signed in to read them, I don't think.

It looks like there's a last name in your profile URL -- that can retain a name someone originally used to join the site. You can fix it: Settings (upper right), My Page (upper left), fix the Address, click Save.

I believe the fix is retroactive to old comments. I found this about requesting Google to remove the search results once they stop linking to A|N:

I find the site useful to post Blogs that religion will likely find offensive, but rule 8 shields moi from having to put up with attacks on my blogs by theists.

Though one came in recently calling himself King Buddha, specifically to attack my blog on Christianity being partly to blame for the holocaust.  Because I checked and as soon as he entered A/N, he went straight into trolling that blog.

I like making such blogs as they are quickly picked up by search engines and appear in a search almost within an hour after posting them.

I try to make them educational to people outside of Atheist Nexus who happen to stumble across them, possibly while looking for answers.

But, I also like them to be cheeky enough to annoy fundamentalists who also stumble across them.

Thus, I'm not only putting up blogs that many here agree with, I'm also putting up blogs that would easily be found by theists and hopefully either enlighten those with some doubts about their theism, or infuriate those fundamentalists or usurpers trying to lie to their flock to indoctrinate them, where my blogs are aimed at denying their lies and thus to immunize their flock against their lies.

Like that blog King Buddha targeted, so I assume that King Buddha was infuriated as maybe it exposed lies he was trying to persuade others with, thus his scorn.

It should be our duty to expose such lies.

I like!

I like your plan also Dog.
