How Likely do you think that this story is?  Do you all think we would be 1000 years more advance without christianity?

Christianity has suppressed much, which would have progressed and benefitted us. So, yes, it is possible that we'd be 1000 years more advanced, (and probably better off), without having had Christianity. But I can't know what else might have happened to delay our acquisition of knowledge, and our making of progress.

And I am happy to acknowledge that Christianity has done much that is good. On the other hand, most of that good, if not all, could probably have been done without Christianity. If Christianity were to fall away, from now on, and cease to exist, then I have no doubt, that we could provide the good and necessary things for humanity, without it, (Christianity - or any religion for that matter).
