American Politics: The Enlightenment and the founding of the United States of America

The founding fathers were influenced by the enlightenment, they were very critical of religion as they saw how it had ruined the countries in Europe when it was fused with government. It created theocracy which even today can be seen as an extremely negative thing. It (a theocracy) isn't conducive to a nation made up of multiple religions and "not religions" such as the founding fathers envisioned our country.
