Alas, no more sex; no more beer.

It's not original; a paleontologist found it in ancient Egypt.

Hm-mm, if I want people to see it, I won't want an ocean burial.

A modernized version: No more sex, drugs or rock 'n' roll.      Actually, for something along these lines, it's hard to beat the words of Hunter S. Thompson:

Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy shit...what a ride!"

...to arrive at the grave ... totally worn out, ....

Now, if I can get them to happen at the same time.

A couple of quotes I've read (not original to me)

No man is more honorable than the one who goes to his grave without repenting, without apologizing for speaking the truth to a world infatuated with lies.

Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought. – JFK

“The reasonable man adapts himself to the conditions that surround him... The unreasonable man adapts surrounding conditions to himself... All progress depends on the unreasonable man.”  George Bernard Shaw

Excellent! Jay and Bertold!

This one fits my workaholic nature.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime; give a man religion and he will die praying for a fish.

Teach a man to fish and he'll sit around all day drinking beer....

Do not pass by my epitaph, traveler.
But having stopped, listen and learn, then go your way.
There is no boat in Hades, no ferryman Charon,
No caretaker Aiakos, no dog Cerberus.
All we who are dead below
Have become bones and ashes, but nothing else.
I have spoken to you honestly, go on, traveler,
Lest even while dead I seem talkative to you.

Ancient Roman tombstone

“If we go back to the beginning we shall find

that ignorance and fear created the gods,

that fancy enthusiasm or deceit adorned them,

that weakness worships them,

that credulity preserves them, and

that custom respect and tyranny support them

in order to make the blindness of men serve their own interests.”

-Baron d’Holbach

I like that quote Joan.

Ditto.  Well said by the Baron.

I taught that Attitudes, Beliefs, Customs, Traditions ,and Values are learned behaviors. The line, "custom, respect, and tyranny support them", echoes for me.

Nice! My favorite so far.

Another good quote.
