That is the nonsense that they teach in women’s studies at Duke University, this is where she learned this. The toxic stew of the modern university is gender studies, it’s “Sex Week,” they all have “Sex Week” and teaching people how to be sex-positive and overcome the patriarchy. My daughters go to a little private religious school and we pay an arm and a leg for it precisely to keep them away from all of this kind of nonsense. I do hope that they go to a Christian college or university and to keep them so far away from the hard left, human-hating people that run modern universities, who should all be taken out and shot.
i'm sure he was just joshing about the mass murder of liberal academics. if only he had a laugh track to ram the joke home. or, this depraved asshat really believes that it's better to put fellow humans in the grave over their ideology and impact on today's youth. i'm leaning towards the latter.
you see, these religious quacks truly believe that college profs are ruining souls, a crime that in their warped minds should be punishable by death. if the religious right ever gets full control of the US gov't i fear his wishes may come true. the takeaway, imo - VOTE. vote like your life depends on it, b/c it just might! there are some serious wingnuts out there who are impossible to predict. we see more and more examples everyday. don't let them get more power.
I saw this on Daily Kos ... and I don't care whether he was kidding or not. This kind of intolerant, disparaging attitude reflects the wishful thinking of too many on the political and religious right. Ruse himself needs to be taken out ... and reminded that his is NOT the only opinion out there, that free speech remains the law of the land, much as that doubtless frustrates his hoodwinked mind, and if he can't deal with the heat of alternative points of view, then his focus should be on exiting the kitchen.
in case anyone is wondering why something as innocuous as a right wing Christian calling for the death of liberal academics would genuinely scare me, take a gander at John Marshall's thoughts on "the crazy" that is becoming all the more commonplace these days:
This is blindingly obvious for anyone with a shred of historical knowledge or basic human decency. So in the case of Dr. Carson's remark, I couldn't let it go as just more Tea Party-esque hyperbolic nonsense. It struck me more as a mix of dishonesty and myopia bordering on genuine evil - simultaneously dishonoring millions of dead and persecuted (not only Jews but gays, gypsies, slavs) while also pumping up the powerful with fantasies of oppression and threat that can lead them to do genuinely awful things.
As a general historical matter, when mainly powerless people have grand ideas about their oppression, conspiracies against them, etc., it's not that big a deal since they have little ability to act. Things are very different when people who are actually very powerful are gripped with the fantasy of their own powerlessness and oppression.
The 'god of the gaps' keeps shrinking as scientists and free thinkers discover the real truths about nature, our world and the universe. This has all religions waging a war to push their superstitions and keep controls over mankind. Here is a link to a TED talk that appropriately [I think] gets one to ligetimately look at human sexuality.
