Even Democrats Vote to Override Obama's Veto -- Almost Unanimously

This morning--Sept. 28, 2016--Congress votes to override an Obama veto.

Google "Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act" (JASTA) for commentary.

If like me you have some masochism in you, you read the text at

www.congress.gov/bill/114th-congress/senate-bill/2040/text

It will allow Americans to sue Saudi Arabia for its support of the 9/11 hijackers.

America's pro-empire people fear that people in other nations might return the favor and sue America for the damage our military (i.e., drones' collateral damage) has done to them.

Will it lead to another world war or to nations' no longer being able to claim sovereign immunity?

BTW, the boiler plate opening words of bills might interest you.

No kidding!

I know - I don't quite get this one. Wouldn't even the RWNJs be a bit skittish about giving up our soldiers' immunity from prosecution? And, like the Saudis are going to fork over cash no matter what court demands it? Sounds dubious.

Their immunity is required in the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) that America requires host nations to sign.

The news here barely mentioned that Obama had to bring most of the troops in Iraq home because the new government there refused to sign the SOFA.

Funny, most Republicans, whilst in blaming Obama for every cluster fuck in the Middle East mode, don't mention this either.

Bert, I heard of Iraq's refusal only once. Few Obama-blamers know of it and none of them care if it's true.
