My daughter and I listened to the Year of Living Danishly by an Englishwoman from audible.com and we were impressed by the attitudes of that country. They figure the CEO's child should go to the same school the baker's child goes to. They have a great social safety net and there is not the same gap between the rich and the poor you see in many countries. I did not know this piece of history.
The Danish obviously believe in establishing an egalitarian society. Considering that Thomas Jefferson asserted that ours was world where "all men are created equal," genuine efforts at actually CREATING such a society here are far more politically tangled.
