In attempting to ban gay marriage, the great state of Texas has...

Banned marriage.

Those morons.

An amendment in 2005 is worded in such a way that it disallows the recognition of any kind of marriage. Opponents to gay marriage often use slippery slope arguments, such as how gay marriage will open the door to bestiality or something. No one who supports gay marriage really uses such arguments but somehow we always suspected something stupid like this would happen and it was likely to happen in Texas. I'm sorry, but they elected George W Bush governor.

What absolute crap.... Our successors in the NEAR future will just look back at us as idiots. Some as we do Blacks and Whites. And I agree with you to the fullest... morons.

I mean, I'm not gay but Jesus why are they counted as less than equal to society? Same reason we are I guess....

Tried to restrain my words here.... I'm liable to go on a tangent.
I'm actually convinced that the history books will one day wrap up the terms : Christian, Fundamentalist, Slaver, Racist, and Gay-Basher, into one single paragraph pointing to the southern United States as its origin.
Haha, oh my gosh. I have to tell my grand kids that one to pass down.
They'd rather have no marriage than gay marriage. Now who's destroyed the institution of marriage?
Epic Fail

"This state or a political subdivision of this state may not create or recognize any legal status identical or similar to marriage."

Looks obvious to me. You can't get married in Texas.
There's gonna be a lot of bastard children!
OMG! They killed marriage!

You bastards!

I have often heard opponents to gay marriage who claim to not be bigots (they are) state that it is for the protection of children. Apparently, they believe that marriage goes hand in hand with raising children and, somehow, having two daddies or two mommies is just too predictably and inevitably confusing and traumatic a situtation for us to allow children to be exposed to.

Even if, for the sake of argument, this could be demostrated as true (stay with me - of course it isn't), then this stance leads to this statute. You see, it CAN be demonstrated that divorce is terribly traumatic and confusing for children AND the majority of marriages end in divorce. Therefore, for the same reasons given by our non-bigot friends - ALL marriage should be banned. QED
