Islamic clerics linking sexuality with earthquakes should be locked away for life.

Actually this includes Christian clerics and TV evangelists like Pat Robinson and others who link promiscuity with natural disasters.

They really shouldn't be allowed to preach to the public, because they have already condemned themselves as being incapable of thinking rationally and are obviously uneducated lunatics.

We should only allow sane, rational people to have public influence, not loopy nutjobs, because they only serve to increase the number of uneducated lunatics in a community.

They deserve padded cells instead of podiums.

Here is an example of a nutjob Wanker, who requires slamming into a padded cell for the rest of his days.

When they scream Martyr!, those making the martyrdom claim should be educated about their hero's extreme lunacy, and shown the door to their own padded cells for believing in such errant nonsense that has been proven idiotic for the last few hundred years of scientific investigation.

The problem remains that they're the ones put in the position of indoctrinating educating the young, and until their lies and misinformation can be exposed to their ignorant pupils, nothing will change.

Certainly, the internet will help, but more may be needed.

Pat Roberson is just as bad. He claimed that the last Haiti earthquake was caused by Haitians making a pact with the devil in the 1800's. Someone should see to it that the man gets schooling on "what causes earthquakes." My second thought was to ask myself if maybe Pat was around in the 1800's. He's making the claim so he might have been there! :)

I'd recommend instead of a padded cell that we all point and giggle loudly.  It would cost less and not clutter our prisons.

I agree entirely with everyone.

A cheaper approach would be to have them treated like child molesters and ban them from having any contact with children, including phone and Internet contact for life.

They should also be banned from public speaking, which includes Television, Radio, Internet and even as preachers in churches, mosques and on the street.

That should reduce their influences.

And Pat Robertson should have been so banned decades ago.

Their stupidity is far worse than blaming trees for roadside accidents.

Or blaming Obama's national prayer day speech for Global Warming.

So they are either mentally deranged or Deceptive Usurpers, either way, they should not have public exposure, nor access to children.

I recall the Archbishop of Canterbury commenting on the Asian tsunami that ''I sometimes wonder about gods plan''. Their feet may be firmly on the ground but their minds are most certainly in a different dimension. ''Away with the fairies'' as the Irish would say.

One thing that when it comes to religious leadership (theologians), making statements, one must remember: There is no such animal as a wise theologian.

Because true wisdom is as Bertrand Russell's message to the future states:

"“I should like to say two things, one intellectual and one moral. The intellectual thing I should want to say is this: When you are studying any matter, or considering any philosophy, ask yourself only what are the facts and what is the truth that the facts bear out. Never let yourself be diverted either by what you wish to believe, or by what you think would have beneficent social effects if it were believed. But look only, and solely, at what are the facts. That is the intellectual thing that I should wish to say.

The moral thing I should wish to say… I should say love is wise, hatred is foolish. In this world which is getting more closely and closely interconnected we have to learn to tolerate each other, we have to learn to put up with the fact that some people say things that we don’t like. We can only live together in that way and if we are to live together and not die together we must learn a kind of charity and a kind of tolerance which is absolutely vital to the continuation of human life on this planet.”

Theology is based on asserting what they want to believe, not based on any evidence.

This is the opposite of Wisdom.

Therefore it is impossible to be Wise and believe in and be a Theologian, a student, studying the mind of god.

I brought this up, because it is an attack I'm levelling in a debate with a Catholic, who holds Theologians as men of great wisdom.  He cannot ever be so wrong.  Aye!

It could also be the subject of another blog:  "No Such Animal As a Wise Theologian" , any thoughts???

I agree. I'm working on a blog about some stupid sermons I have heard in my lifetime. Many of us need to understand this because we can see how the theist thinks and also know why he thinks that way.

I'm wondering about how to word the title, for the best impact.

I suppose you have the same difficulty with your blog.

Best of luck with it M8!

My main man said it over 30 years ago:

What are the facts?  Again and again and again -- what are the facts?  Shun wishful thinking, ignore divine revelation, forget what "the stars fortell," avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history" -- what are the facts, and to how many decimal places?  You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your single clue.  Get the facts!
-- Robert A. Heinlein

And Said it so well, Loren.

Linking "promiscuous behavior" to natural events such as earthquakes is beyond ridiculous and highlights the insanity of religious thought. I say let them continue this crazinesss. They will send themselves to the margins of society...where they belong!

A cheaper approach would be to have them treated like child molesters and ban them from having any contact with children, including phone and Internet contact for life.

I am assuming that most comments on this thread have a strong element of hyperbole, Because the moment you have the legal power to lock someone away (either physically or communication) it will quickly be atheism that will be declared to be 'harmful to children'.
