Thanks Mindy. I like "em!
The more I watch the News and hear of what amounts to religious (read Christian religion in the western world) encroachment on everyone else's rights, the more and more convinced I am that we are heading at break neck speed toward another Dark Ages. A big part of the Earth has never gotten out of the Dark Ages, and the US is in a spiral, toward a return to them, like a planet falling into a black hole.
Thanks Mindy for posting!
That's strange that 65% would hire an atheist over a religious person for a job waiting tables. Am I understanding that right? Why would atheists be better at waiting on tables?
Stupid religious people probably enjoy the thought of having an atheist in subservient, serving roles waiting tables. It all goes along with their condescending attitude toward us.
I think the idea is that waiting tables is demeaning. They would wish this upon an atheist but not a theist.
In a book that helped my own evolution, When Bad Things Happen to Good People, Harold Kushner told of how his belief changed to one in a god that's far from omnipotent, that's just as outraged as we are over the tragedies and injustices that happen.
I'm thinking of writing a book called "Why Good Things Happen To Bad People."
Remember that it rains on the just and the unjust unless you have an umbrella.
"The rain it raineth on the just
And also on the unjust fella;
But chiefly on the just, because
The unjust steals the just's umbrella."
HA! I always thought my grandfather came up with that phrase! It was a favorite of his!
What a close-minded world we live in. But, I think we're trending toward the positive.
thanks - enjoyed those
