Looks like Rhode Island Christians (mainly catholics) are continuing to try to terrorize student activist, Jessica Ahlquist, and her family for her successful court-ordered removal of a christian prayer from the wall of her high school gym. The accompanying letter threatening violence and death to her and her family if they didn't leave the state in a hurry was sent to her last month (published in FFRF Freethought Today, May 2012, p. 15). These Rhode island Christians, largely Catholic, are just as bad as the Taliban and should be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. We can help by publishing their threatening letter and circulating it to as many influential sources as possible. Particularly effective would be to send it to as many foreign countries to show the world what kind of a “democracy” America really is. Even the local Christian politicians of this state are against separation of church and state (Mayor Leo Fontaine, RI Attorney General Peter Kilmartin, State Rep. James McLaughlin (D-Cumberland), former state Adjutant General Reginald Centraccio, supported of course, by Roman Catholic Bishop Thomas Tobin).
If in case the scan of the letter did not reproduce well, this is what it said:
"The cops will not watch you forever. We will get you good. Tell you little asshole sister to watch her back. There are many of us, 'Crusaders," we have a better [sic] pool going to see who gets you first! Your fuckin old man better move or keep you locked up if you know whats good for you. We know where he works, what kind of cars yoju have + the plate numbers of the cars. Get the fuck out of R.I. you bitchin whore. You are nothing more than a sex-toy of a slut. Maybe you will gang-banged before we throw you out fo one of our cars. WE WILL GET YOU - LOOK OUT1"
How scared to these people sound, how panicked and desperate?
And what an overreaction to the removal of a banner, a piece of cloth with a few words on it. If those words were so important, those who cared about them could memorize them and enjoy them in that fashion, while respecting the law of the land and the rights of others who do not believe as they do. Sadly, this appears to be beyond their meager capacity.
To be blunt, I hope those to issue such threats are caught, publicly tried and incarcerated. This manner of behavior should not be tolerated or sanctioned by inaction.
They should be charged with terrorism, as this is terrorism of the homegrown variety and have a taste of the medicine they like to serve those of other faiths in this country.
