I would like to do a piece on my blog, Releasing Religion, regarding mixing God & government.  And I'd like to know what opinions people have here about doing such a thing.  Some points to mention are:

Glenn Beck is well known for arguing that we have misunderstood that founding fathers & their desire to keep church & state separate.  Holding his rally on 8/28, he gathered 150.000 people to hear him talk about bringing out country "back to God".  What do you think it would do to our country to "get back to God"?

The Tea Party has been called racist Chrisotcrats. In their recent convention, most conference sessions began with prayers.  What do you think of the Tea Party?  Do you know very little about them?  Do you know a lot?  Please share your thoughts here.

The piece will be posted on www.releasingreligion.blogspot.com

I think the A/N group is too rationale to let fear tactics take hold - at least among "us girls". Might be an effective tactice with the general populace - if you can reach them, and food luck with that. I do agree with you that the right is much greater at "framing" the issues than the left. It makes sense, though, these are the same people running busineses and ad/marketing campaigns. Manipulating the public with false messages is in their DNA.
Getting deep in it...

This is the general feeling Ive noticed. I never actually thought things would go this far...

If they knew what was good for them they wouldn't want any part of this. They cant fix it, they certainly don't have a cohesive plan and unless they can literally create a miracle then they are absolutely forked and now they will be bringing the GOP down with them. America is hardly in any mindset to trust Neo-cons again, no matter which clever guise they take. A con is a con...

Palin will never happen.<---period...
What the corporate "people" need is a good ass kicking like any other person that goes around being a jerk to other people. Where is the corporate persons ass located?
I think it is located in the pocketbook.
Same place as their little black hearts and their money-obsessed brains.
The Tea Party may have begun as a grass roots movement, but it was quickly recognized and coopted by the Rovian Republican Machine. Using Warren Buffet's media power and the Koch brothers money, the Rove machine began feeding them lies and misinformation, THAT THEY WERE WILLING AND WANTED TO BELIEVE. A lot of it is closet racism, such as in Obama is a radical muslim that worships with a radical back Christian preacher and a Socialist that propped up that damn banking system that could have collapsed with all of OUR money in it. The crap was thrown at the board and different shades of shiite stuck to the most receptive nutjob. They want to believe they have a chance for the American Dream, but believe it is the fault of the those that can't afford to educate their children or pay for healthcare that they pay these terrible taxes (the lowest tax rate in any industrialized nation, can we still call America that?). Nevermind that their children went to public school and they worked when insurance and medical treatment were affordable.
Dan, do you have a source for implicating Warren Buffet in the Rove machine? I seem to recall him being in favor of higher taxes, particularly on the wealthy. Yes, here. And he endorsed Obama during the campaign. Are you thinking of Rupert Murdoch or somebody else? I know the Koch brothers are pumping tons of money into the libertarian agenda.
Sorry, meant Rupert Murdock/Faux News. That is the media hook up of all time for Rethugs. The Rove propaganda machine rivals Hitlers.
Ah, thanks. Weirdly, Rupert Murdoch hosted a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton during the primaries and was praising Obama back then as well. Of course, we know where his true loyalties lie.

And yeah, Goebbels had nothing on Rove.
To me, the tea party is naught more than angry whitefolk, incensed that a black man is in office. My evidence is all in their timing. Everything I have ever heard them yelling about came to being in the deep deep of bush II (electric bogaloo). Patriot Act, wasteful gov spending, etc, etc. The fact that they are all so mad now makes absolutley no sense, given that the goverment grew three sizes every day. No anti-gov rallies, no marches, no cries to "throw the bums out!", nuthin. Given what I noticed about these parties, and the fact that they came out of the wood work on the 20th...none of their activities show that they really angry at the government, just the president. Is it because he's black? Possibly. Democrat? Again, possibly. But...if the tea party really wanted to be taken seriously, instead of being rubber stamped racists, then they should have started spewing their rhetoric far earlier...like in 05. Or 06. You know, when the problems started.

And on a secondary note, if they're so angry at free heathcare, but totally fine with bloodshed across the sea, then they should go off and do the fighting. It makes no sense for the goverment to spend so much money on murder tools and get the go-ahead, but should not pay to help keep people alive.
I'd like to know more about them, it's just hard to find a non biased source of information. I'd love to see an athiest leader, problem is they would have to be a fake christian because this country would never elect a godless president.
You mean the 'American?' neo-fascist party? Change the channel change their minds?
Please people(s) of dry-drunk faith; "Put down your tradition clickers!"

and feed the world; don't keep them in the dark; they know about the internet now.
