I would like to do a piece on my blog, Releasing Religion, regarding mixing God & government.  And I'd like to know what opinions people have here about doing such a thing.  Some points to mention are:

Glenn Beck is well known for arguing that we have misunderstood that founding fathers & their desire to keep church & state separate.  Holding his rally on 8/28, he gathered 150.000 people to hear him talk about bringing out country "back to God".  What do you think it would do to our country to "get back to God"?

The Tea Party has been called racist Chrisotcrats. In their recent convention, most conference sessions began with prayers.  What do you think of the Tea Party?  Do you know very little about them?  Do you know a lot?  Please share your thoughts here.

The piece will be posted on www.releasingreligion.blogspot.com

One problem with your suggestion. His birth certificate HAS been produced. All these people just say that it is fake.

Susan - Oh, I did not know that. But why didn't I know that? I try to stay abreast of everything. See? It's just so overwhelming to try to figure out everything that is going on.

Thanks for the clarification.
Linda, assuming the facts in the Michigan case are correct, that would be an unfortunate incident. A person certainly has a right to seek out roommates that meet their religious preferences. Of course, if she did this in a forum that didn't allow it, then that might make a difference, but that's just conjecture on my part.

That doesn't come close to stacking up to the thoroughly debunked, yet widely believed claim that Obama isn't eligible to be President. The xenophobic underpinnings of the claim are fairly noxious, and the fact that it is trumpeted so zealously by certain elements makes it even more so.

As to the suggestion that it's beside the point that there is an existing mosque within walking distance of Ground Zero, how so? Again, the Constitution allows the construction of houses of worship anywhere. Discriminating against one religious brand is simply not permitted.
Correction to my statement earlier. polls say (gop btw)
~ 25% believe he is the ANTICHRIST
~67% believe he is a SOCIALIST
~61% believe he wants to take away americas guns
~57% believe he is a MUSLIM
~55% he has done "many" things that aren't constitutional
~51% believe we wants to turn the country over to a ONE WORLD GOV't
Now, its not all bad, because one in four americans (regarldess of affiliation) believe he is the domestic enemy that the constitution refers to.
~45% of GOP members believe he is not of US Birth (birthers)
~38% believe he is "doing many of the things Hitler did

Are you seriously shitting me? 25% of tpers think Obama is the Antichirst????

Hmmm, I just don't know if I can swallow that one. He's pretty bad but not that bad lol.

Now the 67% believing he is a socialist. I can easily believe that.

The 67% believing he is Muslim is very disturbing and I have a hard time believing that one too.

I don't see him being like Hitler at all.

Hmmm, I'll have to think about those stats. Would help if I trusted stats in the first place but I don't very much. I'll think about it and I'll do some more research.

Thanks for your time and getting that info.
Linda, what's magical about the 10-block radius? Blocks in Manhattan are long and skinny. Do you mean ten blocks the long way or ten blocks the skinny way?

Jason - Oh for Goodness sake. Ten blocks the long way. I don't know. The point is I don't want that Iman to have his way. I want the last word on the matter since he refuses to publically put down the radical Muslims that killed almost 3000 innocent civilian citizens on 911. That's just the way I want it. It's a little childish I know, but it's something.

Sorry, I got you confused with someone else but I did give an example of the outrageousness of progressive liberals on my other post.
What do you want him to do? He has been speaking publicly to bring Muslims and the west closer together. Kinda hard to do if you support terrorism.

Kind of hard to do if you feel your life will be snuffed out if you dare. So no, of course I don't want him to be harmed. I'm just making a point. Do you see how the radical Muslims have us in a stranglehold? It's only going to get much worse. Look how much freaking power they have over the world now. It's not even funny. Okay, not going there. Calming down. Deep breaths. Chrystal blue cool waters flowing over my hot feet.

Did you notice a month or so ago someone on A/N did a post (hey - let's all draw funny pics of Muhammad). No one responded (that I know of).

I was going to post and say "I bet no on has the balls to do it" lol. but I decided not to touch that discussion with a ten foot pole.

Yet I see funny Zombie pics of Jesus everywhere I go. I even have someone on my FB that uses it as a profile pic sometimes.
lol i'll post my pic of muhammad if it doesnt get banned~ its got a penis in it! I fear NO MAN! (except the mods on this site)

Park - Ha ha ha, I would not recommend it. You might get snuffed and who would correct the error of my political ways? LOL
Actually we celebrated Draw Mohammed Day on A|N. There was a huge thread and lots of people posted drawings. Not sure it's still around; that was months ago.
Guess you missed "Everybody Draw Mohammad Day".
its wierd linda, on a site populated by atheists (supposedly only atheists) that we still fear what would happen if we offend the religious...

I think it is wierd that you think it is wierd. Can't you just picture some radical Muslim swearing a fackwa or whatever it is called on your life for offending Muhammad - hacking into A/N, tracking you down, finding out where you live and sending you a poo poo in the mail lol. Let's hope it would be no worse than that. Ha ha ha.

Jason - I just want to have my say in the matter. It's like when my dogs argue over a toy. The alpha dog picks up the toy and go hides it so the other dog won't be able to play with it anymore. Its passive aggressive. He removes it - places it at a distance - keeps it away from - gets his way - shows his dominance - he does not care about playing with the toy himself - he just doesn't want his brother to enjoy it. He does not care that there are 100 toys laying around the room - he wants the one his brother is playing with right now - it's childish - I already admitted that. I just want the Muslims to show some respect for my grief. It's too soon to do something like that (put the mosque so close). They need to wait maybe about 50 or 60 years to put a mosque that close.
