There are many different methods of radiometric dating, it is not limited to Carbon 14, which indeed can only be used to date bones that are thousands of years old due to it's half life.

If you were to do a Carbon 14 radiometric dating test on dinosaur bones you would not get a result of the bones, there will be no Carbon 14 left. If the sample was contaminated however (dirt etc.), you might get a false positive that would point to the bones being a lot younger.

Also, if you're really interested and you wish to learn more about the proofs for evolution, an old (billions of years) earth etc. I would recommend Richard Dawkins book "The Greatest Show on Earth" or even Wikipedia which can be a good starting point to educate yourself.
