What century are we in again?  The grio.com

Majority of US Americans pooled have prejudice against blacks and hispanics.

This makes me feel both angry and ashamed.

a majority of both Democrats and Republicans held anti-black feelings (55 percent of Democrats and 64 percent of Republicans), as did about half of political independents (49 percent).

It doesn't matter what someone's ideals are, or their religion is or is not.  Exposure to coworkers, neighbors, etc should eliminate those negative stereotypes.  What is with people, to be so retrograde?

Sorry, but it boggles my mind.

No one ever went broke underestimating the stupidity of the American people. H.L. Mencken.

It's the old "in-group" vs. "out-group" mentality. From Andaman Island cannibals making war on neghboring tribes, to the Yanamamo of the Amazon rain forest attacking other clans for food and women, to the Third Reich screaming racial superiority and trying to wipe out those who are "different," we really haven't evolved all that much.

The said fact is, that with all the iPads, Smart Phones, nuclear technology, space exploration, etc., our suspicions of others, base upon supposed and manufactured "differences," still permeates our primitive brains. We, as a species, love to hate each other.

I agree with you Pat - as a species we like to segregate and hate people who are not like us.

I am glad the schools I attended (attend) were (are) diverse and had (have) many people of different nationalities. I am glad I am not a bigot. Would never want to be that.
