From the Progress Report:
INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS -- CANTOR-LED DELEGATION UNDERMINES U.S. POLICY ON SETTLEMENTS: Last Sunday, Israeli authorities evicted two Palestinian families from their East Jerusalem homes so Jewish settlers could move in. The U.S and the U.N strongly condemned the evictions. But House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA), traveling with a large group of GOP congressmen visiting the region this week, undermined official U.S policy by not only offering his support for the expansion of Israeli settlements, but also by specifically supporting the evictions of the Palestinian families from their homes. "I don't think we, in America, would want another country telling us how to implement and execute our laws," Cantor said. The evictions are a continuation of Israel's settlement expansion policies, which not only the U.N. and U.S. condemn, but Israel committed to freezing in 2003 under President Bush's Road Map for peace. The Obama administration has made clear that it expects Israel to stick to its commitments, which include stopping the expansion into East Jerusalem. Despite the right-wing criticism, opposition to Israeli settlement expansion has been official U.S. policy since 1967. The Wonk Room's Matt Duss writes of Cantor's rejection of U.S policy: "Maybe it's too much to ask Cantor and his colleagues to recognize the injustice and indecency of Israeli policy toward Jerusalem's non-Jewish residents. But it shouldn't be too much to expect them not to go abroad and provide cover for it."
Cantor is a disgusting slug, a whiny voiced, perfectly coiffed whore for the Israeli Lobby who seems to have forgotten how Dick Nixon would suck up to Henry Kissinger when in the man's presence, then refer to him as a "kike" the moment he was out of earshot, which must have brought a big laugh from those twin crewcut Nazi types, Erlichman and Haldeman. Cantor is a disgrace to his race. He decided to throw his lot in with a party that is in danger of disappearing (it has already rendered itself irrelevant) because the "big tent" it claimed to have opened up during the Reagan years is now down to the size of a pup. The party bigwigs are all WASPS with a few conservative Catholics thrown in. But they all have one thing in common: they secretly despise anyone who is not JUST LIKE THEY ARE.
This phenomenon is emerging now that we have an African-American in the White House. The put-up
mobs jobs at the healthcare reform town hall meetings are symptomatic not so much of a legitimate gripe with the liberal and progressive Dems but of racist hatred for African-Americans. It is not coincidental that the last bastion of GOP strongholds is the Old South. After FDR, the Yellow Dog Dems had no one to put their faith in. They found solace in the ranks of the Repubs, who thought as they did but were smart enough to use buzz words instead of telling the truth. Cantor and the scant few other GOP Jews in congress have been deluded into thinking that they can ever be more than tokens. The same thing could be said of Michael Steele, who is being used, and of the now-somewhat-redeemed Colin Powell, who may be a GOP but he is not a Neocon.
Naturally, Cantor is welcomed by the Christer fundamentalists because although the latter despise Jews for "murdering" Jebus, they see modern-day Israel as the situs of the End Times' final conflict, which will produce their beloved, much-yearned-for
Rupture Rapture. More and more bumper stickers that used to read "IN CASE OF RAPTURE THIS CAR WILL BE EMPTY" are now sporting a new one: "SUPPORT ISRAEL." The settlements will be the Number One stumbling block to a permanent, two-nation peace in the Unholy Land. Cantor is playing right into the hands of the dominionists as well as those Israelis who feel that Yahweh-Jehovah promised them a home where they are unwanted. It's a lose-lose situation and not getting any better.
Some of the TV pundits like to describe Cantor as "handsome," "good-looking," &c. I always say beauty is as beauty does. Looking at that prick makes me want to puke my guts up.
Now, let me tell you what I really think....
