I dated this guy for about three times, and I liked him and was comfortable enough to say some jokes, most of it he laughed at. After awhile, he said to me "Wow, usually all women aren't funny, at all". I let it go because I didn't want to mess up the date. But it did bug me a bit.

So I was playing video games with one of my male friends and told him about it, and he pretty much agreed, well not wholeheartily, but I was surprise to see him agree to even a certain extent. I even gave him a list of females who I thought were funny; Carol Burnett, Sarah Silverman, Janeane Garafalo, and he felt kinda impartial.

Do guys generally think this way? What kinda chauvinistic way of thinking is that? I think that kinda offends me, especially when I think I'm a bit witty and quick myself.

Odd, but being a reality activist, my understanding often conflicts in a world dominated by religious and non religious beliefs so I may be in the minority. I agree with you, of course, and haven't had any people that I know who agrees with your boyfriend. Of course, one must consider the type of humor. Sleazy or sarcastic humor may offend many woman and not so many men. Some men can be real bone heads or maybe, I should say boner heads.
Just chiming in to say that 'reality activist' is a fantastic phrase!
You have just hit one of my pet peeves, which is calling something/someone sexist, racist, chauvinist, ect, without it really being any of those things. Thank you for using buzzwords.

Someone saying "I think the majority of women are not funny" is not sexist. Its stating what he viewed as something alot of women have in common (in this case, not being funny). If I stated "the majority of American CEO's are caucasian" that would not be racist. Its stating an observation. It would be sexist if he was saying "I think women lack the ability to be funny and are therfore inferior when it comes to comedy" or "its an essential part of being a women to be unable to do comedy, therfore no woman can ever be funny" or just plain old "women shouldn't do comedy".

Now yes, I agree. There are funny women out there. It just happens to be that I don't find the vast majority of women I meet to be funny. I am not saying women are horribly inferior in terms of comedy. Does that mean I am sexist?
You have a point. I think I may have jumped the gun a bit in saying chauvinistic, since I let it bother me so much, but I don't want people to automatically assume there isn't a funny bone in my body. But people have different preferences when it comes to comedy, I can't force you to laugh when you don't want to.
Its cool.

Most people scream racist/sexist/whatever because they have been conditioned to by the media's favorite race/gender card players (Sharpton, ironicaly the same main who has made an extrememly anti-semetic comment). And why shouldn't they play the race/gender card? After all it gets them what they want politically speaking. If you don't believe partial birth abortion should be legal it's not because you have a genuin disagreement with the feminist about when a developing fetus should be given the rights of a human (and thus the right to life). According to the feminists if you disagree with them its because you somehow subconsciously hate women. Ofcourse they say that because they know people have been conditioned (possibley not on purpose) to have these knee-jerk reactions to anything that could even be misconstrued as racist/sexist. Instead of sitting back and saying "Is this really racist?" they grab their metaphorical pitch forks and chow down on a nice serving of "I am a selfrightous asshole".

You get used to people jumping the gun and calling you a racist/chuvanist/whatever when you're a white male and you happen to disagree with them.
Oh geez... stop playing the oppressed white male card. ; )
I am not playing any "oppressed card". I am just saying that we are now at a point in which anything that can slightly be misconstrued as racist/sexist, even when it isn't, is used as political ammo to insult those you don't agree with. Just call someone racist and no one will vote for them regardless of whether or not they actually are. Don't tell me it doesn't happen. It does.

I am just saying if you are white male people do tend to jump the gun qiucker. Don't tell me there aren't double standards to what a white male can say and what minorities can say. I am not offended by jokes about white poeple, but really, minority comedians make degrading jokes about white people all the damn time. If I were to make a joke about black people everyone would be grabbing their pitch forks. If you don't realize this you must be sheltered or lieing to yourself.

I am not saying "Wo is me the poor white person". I realize I have it better than most, but to pretend these things don't happen is BS.
"Oh geez... stop playing the oppressed white male card. ; )."

Now THAT'S funny, and geeze it was said by a woman!! Actually, I think woman's humor is more subtle and blows by most of the big, tough, macho men.
"According to the feminists if you disagree with them its because you somehow subconsciously hate women."

Gee, you sure as hell know a lot more about what I believe than I do.

But when you think about what feminism actually is as opposed to myths and stereotypes about feminism, it's pretty much true. Feminism is the belief that women should have the same political, economic and social rights as men. Or, as many like to call it, "the radical notion that women are people". If you're anti-feminist, you don't think women should have the same rights as men, which probably means that you don't think too highly of them.
This is exactly what I am talking about.

I agree women should have the same rights as men.

The feminists (mostly the third wave ones and afew of the second wave ones) will act like you hate women if you disagree with them on a particular issue (like abortion). They think they have a monopoly on the subject.
The feminists? You've surveyed and/or interacted with every last one of us?
Exactly what I was thinking. :)

As a feminist, I feel misrepresented.
