Thought I'd keep a running thread for my poems. I enjoy writing poetry very much...especially haikus. I like that poetry gives me an outlet to share my victories, and convey my sorrows. I'm not a very vocal person, when it comes to sharing my feelings, but poetry enables me to do... what I'm unable (unwilling?) to do, with my voice.

This poem reflects my feelings on decconverting from Christianity...just something simple, but it is a reminder of how far I've come away from religion.

All This Time

All this time
I spent chasing You
When I could've spent it
Chasing my dreams

All this time
I spent trusting in Your Word
When I could've spent it
Trusting my intuition

All this time
I spent in church
Waiting, praying, hoping
For You to show up

All this time
I spent on my knees
When I could've spent it
Dancing or swimming or something else

All this time
I spent feeling guilty
When I could've spent it
Planting a garden

All this time
I spent loving You
When I could've spent it
Loving myself

YES!!!

That is exactly how I feel. :-)
It is so sad that so many people look back at how much of their life was wasted living in fear and denying themselves the good things in life to please God out of fear of the loss of heaven and the pains of Hell

At least you figured it out at a young age :-)

Some people never get it.

Gongrats!
