Thanks for the update on wildfire smoke. I was wondering.

Can't be over soon enough, Plinius, but at least its better now.

I'm glad to hear that Patricia!

Smoke has been much better, Joan, but we still have some smelly days. Evacuation alerts are still up in many places yet, & some fires are by no means totally under control. Yes, the days are shorter & cooler, which helps a lot. Some areas are seeing frost which is also a plus. At least now I can scooter without the mask.

Sounds like a smart girl.

We had house guests last week, a yellow tabby cat named "Clyde!," my granddaughter. and her daughter stayed with us because they had sewer backup problems and the stench was described by them as "putrid!"

I was in my glory, with a little girl and a cat to play with! Brooklyn, four-years-old, develops a fine vocabulary. She chatters all day. I taught her "coral," "bivalved clams," "gastropod" "horseshoe-crab," and "ammonite" as we dusted my shell collection. She taught her Mom and Dad these shells and their names correctly when they came home.

Clyde was well-behaved while here, although timid.

Patricia, how is the smoke problem? Did that last rain provide enough moisture to quell some of the fires?

Our temperatures returned to a lovely 80°F and even 60°F as the new highs. Wonderful to work and play outside. The smoke left us, hopefully from dousing fires.

All I want to do is sleep; I seldom wake up before noon, these days, and night falls earlier each day. I get my few household and garden chores done, get dinner and do the cleanup and it is time for bed. It was only a few years ago that I woke up with the sunrise and worked hard all day on some project or another.

District 8 Fire had few fire calls this summer; they had more health-related calls. Laura and Michelle have their licenses now and respond to those calls for emergency care.

Awwwwww……….

I see no reason why masks can't be used if no customers are around, & I see no point in leaving the doors open during smoke season.

As long as the air quality in B.C. stays dangerous, and masks help, I hope they become the new normal for "showing your face to customers" if it must be done in the outside air!

On a happier note, while looking for something else I found these at the blog of the Dutch sisters Corry and Heleen:

Good night and pleasant dreams!

Yes, & I'm worried about our son in Prince George who manages a car dealership, & must work with doors open at all times. Can't wear a mask because they have to show their face to customers, & he has terrible hay fever almost year round!

Other than that, its beautiful here with many lakes, forests, rivers, mountains, wildlife, & wilderness.
