I would add Guineafowl to the combative list... they also make great watch dogs and attack strangers coming onto your property. They are also useful for the garden at eating vegetable pests.

That is an amazing bird... is it a crow or raven? In any case, these birds are extremely intelligent. When I was about 5 years old, my family had a pet crow. Someone found him as a baby after a storm and nursed him back to health.  He preferred my brothers shoulder because.. well my brother was a hairy guy and crow loved picking at his hair.

Interesting that you mention emus, Chris.  Aron Ra used to have one and tells a couple pretty good stories about it.

That's a cute picture Joan.

Animal friends are interesting.

I raised three chickens from hatchlings. My cats got along great with them. One of the chickens I had named Penny used to come when I called her. It was neat how she would raise her wings and drop her head as I scratched her back. She purred like a kitten.
Penny would follow me around the yard along with my cats

Having tame chickens, or ducks around is fun. Fowl can be raised in suburbia in most townships.

I wouldn't recommend Ostrich,or Emu as companions (if you have a couple of acres). They can be mean and combative. Same with geese.
