Patricia, I'm never going to be under the grass...unless it's the kind people smoke, and I don't enjoy that stuff.  I have already made my plans, and paid for them.  My ashes are going in the ocean. I don't know if that means I will be phish phood, but I don't really care. I told my sister she could flush them down the loo if she wanted to. Just as long as there are no ceremonies or prayers.

In the meantime, I'm not quite finished mourning Jerry; I should have let him go sooner, but he didn't act like he wanted to go till the last day or so.  It was very obvious that he was desperately trying to hang on...only Bastet knows why.  So I have some unfinished business with myself before I can consider adopting a baby-cat.

Also, even though Pumpkin has lived with us for 2 years, he still doesn't know how to be a house cat. He lived in the Cat Hotel from the time his eyes opened till he moved in with us.  He was surrounded with other cats that boarded there for short stays, and the staff (myself included) didn't have a lot of time to socialize with him.  So....I think he needs to be an Only Cat for a while....petted and fussed over to make up for lost time.

Ruth, I've had that Crazy Cat Lady toy for YEARS...somebody gave it to me for Solstice, and I LOL'd and LOL'd.  I've never taken it out of the package...maybe I can get a high price for it on eBay some day.  Maybe.

Loren, the guy who makes those Sylvester videos is damn clever (poor little kitten!), and I love black cats almost as much as I love ORNJ ones.

I'm thinking about the wisdom of looking for a kitten now that Jerry is gone.  I still have Pumpkin, I'm not young, nor am I well, and [shrugs]  But, oh I would love to have a baby-cat in my arms!

Okay, we're in trouble now - the cats are TALKING!

What's next, opposable thumbs?

We all do the best we can, sk8eycat. Don't blame yourself, focus on all of the good things you shared with Hairy Jerry over the years.

I applaud the creativity of this second story cat guardian.

Hello.  I haven't been around for a while because I was fussing over Hairy Jerry, and when I wasn't fussing, I was in my room re-reading my favorite books to take my mind off everything. finally got to the point that Jerry couldn't even swallow water, and we took him to the vet today....and you know the rest. It was actually very peaceful for him, but my eyes are still wet from time to time.

I'm blaming myself as usual...for hanging on to him as long as I did. I always do this.  I'll get over it, and be back sometime soon.

Some cat furniture, Ruth! I think I saw something like that in Pirates of the Carribbean....

I'm with you Chris. This is the first time I've ever heard of feral cats attacking in groups, but it's normal behavior for feral dogs.

On another note...

And even if it ís true, then it's only a news item because of its rarity - we're used to packs of dogs attacking everything that moves.
