Thanks for the video Joan.

I can't figure out how to get this gif to work. So, I right-clicked on the image and clicked on "Search Google for this image". This is what I found:

Cat is Dumbfounded

"This cat has a sticky piece of tape on his paw and doesn't quite know what to do about it. The look on his face says it all."

I saved the the last 3 funny cats.

Is that a butterfly confusing the GIF cat?

About the Arabian Sand Cat....WANT!  Except we don't have much sand here, just weeds, crabgrass, and dirt.  (And some peanut plants that sprout once in a while because we were stupid enough to give raw ones to the scrub jays who used to visit us.  They bury the ones they don't eat right away, and then forget about them.

Booklover, the Cat Lady looks enjoyable to be around.  Cat Woman just the opposite.

Patricia, I've never heard of or seen even a picture of an Arabian Sand Cat, so I read the interesting details on Wikipedia.  They are cute, especially the kitten in your picture.  Look at those ears!

That cat hotel with separate cat condos sounds like a good idea, assuming it's clean of course.

Glad to hear the cats were probably not drugged Felaine.

The "condos" at the California Cat Center are similar to the ones we used, but a later model.

Also, this place is a LOT more elaborate than the Hotel was...the vet and her partner who opened the Center studied us for months before they went ahead with their plans.  But we were The First!  At least in the Los Angeles area.

About drugging the cats, I don't know if that's possible.  So many "human" sedatives, pain-killers, and tranquilizers either don't work at all on cats, or they are completely lethal. The last time I had a cat who was in pain but still not emotionally ready to die, his vet told me there still wasn't much of anything I could give him that wouldn't make things worse. That was last year.  He still was fighting to stay alive when I finally had him euthanized, but by that time he couldn't even swallow water.

Oh, damn!!  I miss him SO much, even though we still have 2 cats; Jerry was Special.

But I just don't think the Japanese, as weird as they are about "theme" cafes, would have a drug that would make the cats in those places as calm as they seem to be without marketing it.

My own observation has been that when cats are in a large group, they are more relaxed (if no one is in "season," or they are all neutered and don't care).  When I worked at the Cat Hotel, I could sometimes handle, and even give meds to, cats that we had been warned would probably struggle and scratch if we tried to hold them.  They were all in the same big room, but not physically together; each had a large 3-level "condo," and they could see, hear, and smell each other.

Some boarding catteries do let their "guests" mingle.

I have photos I took of the inside of the Hotel, but I haven't scanned them into my 'puter yet.  It was a very special place till the second owner let it get dirty...and worse.  I didn't ever work for her, and now I'm glad; NObody could get her to understand that cleanliness was vital.
