:-D I will, Loren! Partner calls in the background that it's far too early too early to say Dido is better - he's right - but I still think we're on the right track!

I am VERY happy to hear that Dido is doing better, Chris.  Give him BIG HUG and a scritch-scritch from me!

My vet wouldn't even treat Dido because I wouldn't go to a specialist I can't afford, but she consented to give him the prednizone in the end - when she thought that I wouldn't go away - true! I read that vets are in two camps, pro and contra raw food. The difference is mostly about bacteria like E-coli and salmonella, but a feral carnivore also eats raw food without any certificates. So I tried it when I was satisfied that Dido was not too weak at the time.

I get frozen raw food from a shop not too far away - it's a mix of different sorts of ground meat offall - lamb, pork, beef, chicken etc. Now that this works I'm going to find out about fish. We are some 25 km. from the sea but I'm no fisher, or I could try the small river next to this building.

CHris, that is good news, indeed! EVen well trained professionals get diagnosis and treatment wronG! THankfully, you are willing to try anything.
WHat does he like? BEing near the sea, is seafood affordable?

My cats are like that too: doors must be OPEN!

I think I found the solution to Dido's problem - raw food. It's still early to say so for we started the raw food only days ago, but the three months long attack of diarrhea has finally stopped. The prednizone took care of the bloody stools. My vet told me at last that she wasn't in favour of raw food so I had no help until a neighbour came up with this idea. I'm very grateful to her, it was really horrible to see Dido's decline. Now he looks better already, his voice changed again and he puts his bossy sister in her place.

Joan, sweet memories huh? I imagine we all have similar ones especially those of us that have been around a while and been with cats our whole lives.

Ruth, there's one is every crowd right? :-)

What a lovely story, Joan.

We had a lovely black cat that came to our door at Fort Hood, hungry, bedraggled, lice infested. She turned out to be the best mother of any cat I ever had. We named her Ebony. She was a good mouser, too, in our mice infested old home when we brought her north with us 41 years ago. She died of old age.
