For lovers of cats, music ... and pizza:

Robert, sorry that you have to miss Timmy! From your pictures I'd say Not only beautiful but also the ruler of his world. Good that you could spare him the stress of getting to the vet.

Thanks for the compliment! That pic is so old I can hardly recognize myself in it.

I tried the music fragments, Grinning Cat, but Dido & Luna had nothing to say about it. I'll try again later.

Robert, so sorry about Timmy.  He was beautiful.

For anyone: there ARE mobile vets who have practically an entire hospital built into a van, but they are quite expensive since they can only make 3 or 4 house calls a day (depending on the distances they have to cover).  I used one when I was working, and my cats were much more relaxed with her than they would have been if I'd had to crate them up and drive halfway across town.  (And they can sense/smell the fear of all the other animals in a regular vet hospital waiting room.)

My mobile vet retired about the same time that I did, and I can't afford to get myself to a doctor now, let alone my 2 remaining cats.  Both are healthy at the moment, but one just had his 16th birthday; he doesn't seem to be slowing down at all, but he should really have a check-up......

The music bit is interesting, I'd have to get one of ours to accept the headphones first. Plinius, nice B&W picture, that's a great shot.

Sadly we lost one of our cat family members as of the 7th of March, our oldest furry loved one Timmy died after weeks in decline. I occasionally struggle with why in his final weeks we didn't take him to the vet, where I am quite certain they would have put him to sleep after the traumatic events involved in getting him there. He spent his final weeks peacefully at home with those that loved him.

Thanks for all of the great personal cat photos.

I saw a segment on the cat island about a year ago. We watch a lot of cat-oriented shows.

Cat Island pics are beautiful, but I see an awful lot of look-alikes.

Cat Island is interesting.

Comment by Joan Denoo on March 4, 2015 at 1:06pm

An army of feral cats rules a remote island in southern Japan, curling up in abandoned houses or strutting about in a fishing village that is overrun with felines outnumbering humans six to one.

Originally introduced to the mile-long island of Aoshima to deal with mice that plagued fishermen's boats, the cats stayed on - and multiplied.

More than 120 cats swarm the island with only a handful of humans for company, mostly pensioners who didn't join the waves of migrants seeking work in the cities after World War Two.
