My daughter is eleven years old and has Celiac Disease. She has always been an extremely picky eater, so grocery shopping has been an enormous challenge.

We learned that the Ener-G brand tapioca bread has a more enticing texture if warmed in the microwave instead of the convection oven. I know some people with Celiac who can't stand that particular brand of bread because it tends to crumble, but the microwave really does seem to help with that.

Hey there,
I just joined the Nexus a few days ago.
I clued in that my body disliked wheat over a year ago - cut down on wheat and finally asked my Doc for the blood test - I got a high result even tho' I had stopped eating all the obvious sources. I recently had the gastroscopy - which was completely painless - I feel lucky that there is a really good Gluten free bakery/ business close to where I live! I have a lot of other food intolerances too - so wheat was just one more on the list! Sigh!
Looking forward to sharing food ideas!

Hi guys! How did you find out you were Celiac? My Dr. never tested me. He said my symptoms sounded like I had a wheat allergy and told me to eliminate wheat from my diet. I felt better when I did this, so I have continued to do so. Just curious if you were tested.

Hi. Not a Celiac. Just dropped in to rave about the site 'Recipezaar.' Google it. It rules.

Hi Heather, and welcome to the group! :)
It does get rather frustrating and lonely sometimes, so I at least am glad to talk to any and every person who has some experience of the diet.
It's great that you're showing such support for your sister; I'm sure she'll need and appreciate it. :)
Let us know if you have any questions or comments or anything at all!

Hi ladies, I don't have celiac's disease, but my sister was just diagnosed with it. (ironically she is the most bible thumping jesusey xtian in my life) I thought I would join so I could share with you any recipes she comes across, and i can share yours with her. Atheist/christian/whatever, i know its a pain in the ass to have to deal with this diet, and it seems to be hard to find others who have it, at least for her. =)
