OK, changing the subject back to something humorous, during a debate Mitt Romney referenced the Seinfeld character George Costanza.  How fitting, a show about nothing refenced by a candidate who can offer us nothing.

It was only tonight that I came across the Mormon Church's 'Official Position' on the proxy baptisms of Holocaust victims (and survivors, in the case of Elie Wiesel).  According to a recent official statement (dated yesterday), they forbid it and take 'disciplinary action' against those who violate that policy.

Two things about the Holocaust baptisms.  One: Why?  Two: Someone call Bill Maher and tell him to get out his wizarding hat and magic wand.  He's got a helluva lot of work to do.

You're probably right. It's what I refer to as the "Casey Anthony" syndrome. One little cute white baby is murdered, and the press and their followers go ape shit. But, who gives a rat's ass about  the thousands of dark skinned and poor white children murdered every year in this country. Not worthy of CNN.

It's a case of the general versus the specific.  I'd believe they're stupid enough to do it in general.  The public in general won't pay any attention to it, so it's not as much of a risk.

But baptizing such a well-known figure will draw people's attention.  The American public is a little fucked up, that way.  A movie star dying from a particular condition will draw more attention to the subject than the combined attention to the deaths of the other 2 million people who died of it that year.

My own perspective on the Moron baptisms is just off from that of the general public, because I've been paying attention to it for the absurdity of the situation in general.

@ Joseph and Chris. Yes they did. But why the concern over one dead holocaust victim? The Mor(m)ons have been doing it to thousands of dead holocaust victims.

@ dr. kellie  Did they really baptize Anne Frank or are you just shittin' us?

Comment by Joseph P on February 22, 2012 at 8:36pm

Wait, what the fuck?  They actually baptized Anne Frank?
