Lewis Black: The Flintstones is not a documentary.

A slightly longer version of the clip that used to be here.

Perhaps I'm like that because my dad was like that.  I've said it before:  He was the kindest man I've ever known.

Its the age old ''my dick is bigger than your dick'' attitude all over. Like scump, Un, & Putin, etc.

Spud, at first I thought it was a Dr. Seuss poem and could find no verification. There is a wonderful rhythm in his poems, and in yours. You have a way with words; this is no exception!

As to male preoccupation with genitals, power, or control, gratefully, not every male thinks or acts like a male rabbit. Perhaps, such thinking is cultural.

In my family culture, control was a big issue with men and each generation learned how to be a "real" man according to how he was able to control his wife and children. Sadly, that culture was a brutal one on our mothers; my generation of women looked outside our communities for men who were more egalitarian and interested in teamwork. Men who bullied us were like poison to be avoided at all costs. My generation of women was not allowed to have higher education as young women, but as we matured and faced life's challenges, we learned how to get educations that supported us and our children and we left the brutes behind.

Joan, I don't understand a lot of what males do or say.  I've never understood a preoccupation with genitals, power, or control.

Joan, thanks for liking my poem.  It's not perfect, but it's quite good for me.  I'm not good at doing things like that, but when I saw that question on Quora, it came to me and I wrote it in a matter of 10 minutes.

"Ameria was conquered by Spaniards who were carrying the cross in one hand and the prick in the other." Stated in jest, the quote "provides an important component of the masculine self-image throughout Andalusia." "The locus of power and will, of emotions, and strength, lies within the male genitals. Men speak as if they are impelled to act according to opinions and desires that originate in their testicles or penis."

According to Brandes, the metaphors of masculinity appear to be jokes and pranks they play on one another. "Jokes and joking are so important, in fact, that they can be said to provide the main fabric by which men are bound to each other on a daily basis."

Brandes, Stanley. (1985). Metaphors of Masculinity: Sex and status in Andalusian Folklore. Publications of the American Folklore Society/Marta Weigl, New Series, 1. Pennsylvania: University of Pennsylvania Press, 1985. Pg 93

I don't know if there is any basis in fact for all men, or only for Andalusian men. I do know that male humor often goes over my head and lands with a thud.
