Joan, thanks for liking my poem.  It's not perfect, but it's quite good for me.  I'm not good at doing things like that, but when I saw that question on Quora, it came to me and I wrote it in a matter of 10 minutes.

"Ameria was conquered by Spaniards who were carrying the cross in one hand and the prick in the other." Stated in jest, the quote "provides an important component of the masculine self-image throughout Andalusia." "The locus of power and will, of emotions, and strength, lies within the male genitals. Men speak as if they are impelled to act according to opinions and desires that originate in their testicles or penis."

According to Brandes, the metaphors of masculinity appear to be jokes and pranks they play on one another. "Jokes and joking are so important, in fact, that they can be said to provide the main fabric by which men are bound to each other on a daily basis."

Brandes, Stanley. (1985). Metaphors of Masculinity: Sex and status in Andalusian Folklore. Publications of the American Folklore Society/Marta Weigl, New Series, 1. Pennsylvania: University of Pennsylvania Press, 1985. Pg 93

I don't know if there is any basis in fact for all men, or only for Andalusian men. I do know that male humor often goes over my head and lands with a thud.

Good one, Loren.  May have it saved somewhere, but saving it now just in case.

“Can I pray in a house for Friday prayers?”

You can pray in a house

You can pray with a mouse

You can pray upside down

You can pray to a clown

You can pray while picking your nose

You can pray on a pile of dirty clothes

You can pray here

You can pray there

The results are the same

No god to blame

No god to shame

No god here

No god there

No god anywhere

You & me both, Spud.

I never did take being told what to think or how to think it.
