The funny thing is that if, as an adult, I told people that I have an invisible friend named George that talks to me, keeps me company and guides me in my morals and decisions, it would be ill received. I'd be labeled a wackjob. Yet if that imaginary invisible friend was named "God" (or some variation thereof), it would be considered offensive for you to question the legitimacy of my friend's existence.
