Atheist Humor

This is the place to post that hilarious irreligious YouTube video, an irreverent, anti-religious cartoon, or other humorous bit of media. Posts that do not reflect an atheist/irreligious theme will be deleted. (Don't make me go Old Testament.)

Lewis Black: The Flintstones is not a documentary.

A slightly longer version of the clip that used to be here.

Indeed it is... backwards doesn't even enter into it - if it were an agnostic, then maybe.

The point with a Jewish joke being racist or religious depends on how it's phrased. A joke about large noses would be racist since that is clearly genetic; whereas a joke about silly hats or culrly sideburns clearly are not.

Did you hear about the uncoordinated Jewish golfer? He kept falling down on his puts.

Heh.  The joke about dancing being forbidden sounds like it's been translated from "Baptist." I used to be one of those, and they didn't even approve of my taking ballet lessons, but I did it anyway. ;>P

An older Jewish man is driving along the highway when his car smashes into a tree beside the road. A second man pulls up and, thinking quickly, drags the first man out of his burning car and props him up in a sitting position with his back against a boulder. "Are you comfortable?" he asks.

The first man says, "Eh, I make a living."

While I agree that these jokes have no place on this particular forum, I think everyone is getting a little bit too worked up about it. Every Jewish person I've known has enjoyed a good Jewish joke from time to time. I can understand being against jokes that promote negative stereotypes, but aren't we promoting negative stereotypes about religions with most of the jokes we have here?

I mean, we get it, these jokes don't belong here. Can't we just leave it at that?

Yeah, I have some concerns about those jokes. I mean, comedy is supposed to explore the "edges" of society, but there are limits. Does anyone remember the photoshopped picture of a watermellon patch at the White House when Obama was sworn in? That sh*t was obviously racist as well as not funny.

And the entire "exodus-wandering in the desert" thing is a myth, anyway.  Archaeologists have been searching for 100 years in the Sinai, and have found no evidence...no buried middens...no graves (the 40 years was supposed to be the time it took for the people who wanted to go back to Egypt to die of old age ... although, the buybull-writers seem to use "40 years" or "40 days" to mean "a long time")...no latrines...no nuttin.'  How many millions of people was "Moses" supposed to have led?  There should still be some traces...

Maybe she was only talking about the non-atheistic Jews?  O.o  I dunno, man, I was wondering about that, myself.

Could be, but long before Herod and Pilate, the Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, etc. all knew about "diseased grain" and what the results would be if you baked with it.  Lucius Cornelius Sulla was something of an expert on recreational drugs.  (And possibly poisons.)

Women knew that ergot was an abortifacient...and used it.  And there is not one word in the buybull about that!  Heh.
