I don't think teabaggers are really against public healthcare for that reason. I think they just want to keep government out of health care. Think about it - in the offchance that Sarah Palin wins the election, is that someone you'd really want in charge of your hospitals?
As someone in a country with public healthcare, I'm not really for it. I'm not against people having the privilege (not a right, I don't think that would be the correct word to use in this situation) of seeing a doctor when they are sick, don't get that idea. I'm just tired of having to book doctor's appointments weeks in advance, or waiting for up to 5 hours (yes I've waited that long) at a clinic when I DID need to see a doctor that day, or not getting the care I think people deserve because patients are always rushed through. I don't think healthcare should be free for everyone, but I definitely think it shouldn't cost as much as I hear it does in the states to see a doctor.

This isn't really funny, nor atheist/agnostic, but I don't know where else to post it...and it IS true...

Message to the Tea Party - What took you so long to get angry?

You didn't get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.

You didn't get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate Energy policy and push us to invade Iraq .

You didn't get mad when a covert CIA operative got outed.

You didn't get mad when the Patriot Act got passed.

You didn't get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.

You didn't get mad when we spent over 800 billion (and counting) on said illegal war.

You didn't get mad when Bush borrowed more money from foreign sources than the previous 42 Presidents combined.

You didn't get mad when over 10 billion dollars in cash just disappeared in Iraq .

You didn't get mad when you found out we were torturing people.

You didn't get mad when Bush embraced trade and outsourcing policies that shipped 6 million American jobs out of the country.

You didn't get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.

You didn't get mad when we didn't catch Bin Laden.

You didn't get mad when Bush rang up10 trillion dollars in combined budget and current account deficits.

You didn't get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.

You didn't get mad when we let a major US city, New Orleans, drown.

You didn't get mad when we gave people who had more money than they could spend, the filthy rich, over a trillion dollars in tax breaks.

You didn't get mad with the worst 8 years of job creations in several decades.

You didn't get mad when Federal regulators looked the other way while banks and Wall Street reaped billions writing faulty mortgages, short-sold the debt and even wagered that the debts would fail.

You didn't get mad when over 200,000 US Citizens lost their lives because they had no health insurance.

You didn't get mad when lack of oversight and regulations from the Bush Administration caused US Citizens to lose 12 trillion dollars in investments, retirement, and home values.

No.....You finally got mad

When a black man was elected President and decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick.

STROUDSBURG, PA—An oil portrait of Jesus Christ bearing what turned out to be a rare autograph of the Son of God was purchased for $65 at an estate sale last weekend, religious relic experts said Tuesday. "Careful examination of the signature's authentic Aramaic cursive loop on the 'J' and 'C,' plus the distinctive early-A.D. touch of underlining the name and adding a couple of jaunty diagonal dashes, confirms that it is indeed genuine," collectibles appraiser Mike Shankman told reporters, describing the signed message that reads "Gary, best of luck!" "These are actually a lot rarer than you'd think. What a great find." As of press time, one Greek Orthodox antiquarian had offered a conflicting appraisal, saying that while the signature was definitely that of Christ, the Savior may have been amusing Himself by autographing a painting of singer/ actor Kris Kristofferson.

Heh, yeah, most people don't realize how much work standup comedians put in, writing. There's a reason why they only change out their routine completely (and have a new special at the end of the run) about once every other year. It takes a damned long time to get your setup ... punchline ... setup ... punchline ... all laid out. I've tossed entire 7 or 8 minute segments, in the time I've been writing.
