It has to do with religious organizations and the licence society gives them more than the religious precepts. When something bad happens any organization's first thought is about covering its ass instead of justice or the wealfare of the victim. The thing about religious organizations is that they've been given respect and special treatment so long that they think of it as a right rather than a privilege and act accordingly.
