I think the most disgusting part of this whole thing is that he's claiming it as a win. "Oh, look, she died, that means she's not possessed anymore!" I am a very nonviolent person but this kind of thing makes me insanely angry.
This is a story from 2005. Anyone wanting to do the reasearch to find out what happened?

And yes, these ppl are frickin' crazy.
Shit... I dredged up an old one. Sorry, ya'll.
Can't wait until I hear that this Priest has been convicted of this absolutely stupid crime. I hope this story gets world wide attention because it really shows how religious zealots can do hugely stupid things all in the name of Gawd. There are still lots of people who believe to live and let live when it comes to the religions. Religious zealots, like the one in Iran and the Imams from Saudi are very dangerous people capable of bringing on the "End Times" that they believe in so completely.

Maricica Irina Cornici's Exorcist Get 14 Years

There was an abnormal number of hits today on a couple of posts I wrote back in 2005. In those posts I told of the death of Sister Maricica Irina Cornici at the hands of Father Daniel Petru Corogeanu, an Orthodox Priest, and three other nuns during a rage exorcism. At first, I couldn't figure out why the sudden interest in these old posts.

Well, it turns out the Reverent Father was sentenced to 14 years in prison for doing the will of the Lord this murderous act. The sentence seems a little light to me but then I don't know anything about Romanian law. What did blow me away was this from the AP article,

Dozens of Corogeanu's supporters packed the courtroom and prayed for the priest; several burst into tears when the verdict was announced.

What do you have to do to discourage religious supporters if killing a mentally ill nun doesn't do it?

Here's the fox news article:,2933,252760,00.html
From it, apparently there are Vatican guidelines on exorcism:

In 1999, when the Vatican issued its first new guidelines since 1614 for driving out devils, it urged priests to take modern psychiatry into account in deciding who should be exorcised.
Thanks Freckles, at least we get some closure on this one (which is rare.) 14 years isn't much, but it's better than nothing, I suppose.

Again, my apologies for posting such an old-ass article. I'm usually not so sloppy.
It's still interesting. I hadn't heard about it.
Should we start calling you Sloppy Joe?

Yeah, I agree with Freckles. It is still a good example of how nutty these people are. Poor woman. Shame she had to die in such a horrible way.
He got 7 years according to the Huffington Post. article
