Creationist goes down

Good news from a little state called Tejas.

Unfortunately, this dimwit is still on the Board but he ain't the chairman. Also tempering our pleasure is the fact that Gov. Perry can now pick someone else on the Board to be Chairperson and that person will not have to face confirmation hearings until 2011. Maybe this choice will be a bit wiser.

Yeah, I wouldn't count on that Mike. Perry is a complete horse's ass, and has embarassed this state more times than I can remember. He told Hindus and Muslims they were all going to hell, told gays if they didn't like DOMA they could move out of the state of Texas, and said something recently about Texas seceding from the Union. He won relection only by about 40% of the vote because we had 3 parties running. The other two got about 25 and 35%.
One of McLeroy's chief defenders, Sen. Steve Ogden, R-Bryan, accused opponents of applying a "religious test" for serving on the board.

"If we vote against Dr. McLeroy, the perception among many Texans will be that if you are a conservative and believe in the infallibility and literacy of the Bible, there is no need to apply to be on the State Board of Education," he said.
