Atheist News Podcast Project

Hey guys.

I probably shouldn't put this off anymore, so I'm just going to jump on it and improvise. I'm pretty sure the show is over. It was a ton of fun doing it, but with work and my son and my wife in school I simply don't have time to do it anymore.

Other folks have offered to take over but I don't really feel comfortable with that. Quit while you're ahead, sez I.

Anyhow, I payed for another year of hosting, so the archive of podcasts will be available for at least that long.

I really enjoyed podcasting, so I might do something again in the future. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks guys and gals! It was AMAZING.

Love,

--Joe

@TNT666, at least we don't have to worry what the Palestinian Courts would say to a Jewish resident.  The PA won't allow any inside their borders.  That is, of course, why "settlements" and "settlers" must be removed, right?  Personally, were I heading the PA, I'd say, let them keep building, and then, if they don't like the new government under which they find themselves living, they can leave.  There are plenty of others needing the homes.  As long as they stay, though, they might just show the same business acumen that built and supports the State of Israel, thereby helping to build the State of Palestine.

This concept has some historic precedent, by the way:  Before Germany was a nation, it was a cluster of Germanic kingdoms.  Whenever one was doing poorly financially, it allowed Jews to migrate in.  Then, when doing well, it kicked them back out, again, taking their homes and whatever they couldn't carry as they were forced to flee.

In addition to the Non Prophets and DFW, check out An American Atheist podcast.  Along with Atheist Experience and Non-Prophets, the Austin crew has a new Godless Bitches podcast that is extremely new but has done both news of the day type topics in addition to the single guest and topic-focussed shows.

If are in the UK or are interested in events across the pond, The Pod Delusion is a news-segment styled podcast that's seems to be more about skepticism (in all areas of public life) than it is atheism, but it might have an occasional spot that interests you.  Their blog actually gives a good timing breakdown with where the stories begin in the episode if you are only interested in a story or two.

Yeah, I'm beginning to think the podcast is dead.

Wow, Lord Scarab is back with a vengeance, on the discussion boards.  That this mean that Joe is finally coming out of hiding and will be doing new episodes?

Heh, awesome.  As a former Catholic (while I was forced by my parents to go to mass every week), I enjoy anything that takes the Vatican down a few notches in terms of world influence.

When sceptics err...

The editor of a science journal has resigned after admitting that a recent paper casting doubt on man-made climate change should not have been published.

The paper, by US scientists Roy Spencer and William Braswell, claimed that computer models of climate inflated projections of temperature increase. It claimed mainstream climate models misunderstood the role of clouds.

It was seized on by "sceptic" bloggers, but attacked by mainstream scientists.

Wolfgang Wagner, editor of Remote Sensing journal, says he agrees with their criticisms and is stepping down.

"Peer-reviewed journals are a pillar of modern science," he writes in a resignation note published in Remote Sensing. "Their aim is to achieve highest scientific standards by carrying out a rigorous peer review that is, as a minimum requirement, supposed to be able to identify fundamental methodological errors or false claims.

"Unfortunately, as many climate researchers and engaged observers of the climate change debate pointed out in various internet discussion fora, the paper by Spencer and Braswell... is most likely problematic in both aspects and should therefore not have been published."
