The Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions-USA (ICAHD-USA (http://icahdusa.org/
)), ICAHD Israel, and ICAHD-UK have launched a new campaign, End Demolitions Now (http://enddemolitionsnow.org/
), to call public attention to the connection between Israeli settlement expansion and the destructive policy of house demolitions.
The End Demolitions Now campaign calls on President Obama, Secretary of State Clinton and Special Envoy Mitchell to make ending this house demolitions policy a central part of their efforts to broker a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians. They have a petition you can sign. Even better, you can also write directly to these high US officials at the following addresses:
Hon. Barack H. Obama, President of the United States, The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington DC, 20500
Hon. Hillary R. Clinton, Secretary of State, U.S. Department of State, 2201 C Street, NW, Washington DC, 20520
Hon. George J. Mitchell, Jr., Special Envoy for Middle East Peace, U.S. Department of State, 2201 C Street, NW, Washington DC, 20520
In addition to the petition pleas, you can urge high US officials and members of Congress to do the following:
The US Congress needs to end its dereliction and practice due diligence by holding hearings on the Goldstone Report as well as Israel's disgraceful house demolitions and evictions of Palestinians in East Jerusalem and other illegally occupied territories.
It's long past time for the US Department of State and Congress to investigate Israel's misuse of US military and other assistance as required by the Arms Export Control Act (22 USC 2771-2781) and regulate or end US aid to Israel according to the Foreign Assistance Act (22 USC 2151 et seq).
Additionally, the US Departments of Justice and Treasury should investigate AIPAC, SOS Israel and other Israel lobby, advocacy and financial support groups for compliance with the Foreign Agents Registration Act (22 USC 611 et seq) and IRS regulations.
