This has nothing to do with Atheism, but is a bit Albertan and a really funny story...Oiler's Brule comes to Bono's rescue

Hey Picklemonkey!  Welcome to my group.  I've been sadly neglecting my baby for months, but planning on knocking that off.  Just listened to the first 15min. of your first epi.  LOVE IT!  I'm SO excited about an atheist podcast from this hick town I've spent my whole life in.  Don't get me wrong.  I love a lot of things about Red Deer, but I've never really felt like I fit in.

Your podcast sounds great, BTW.  Sound levels are good.  Very professional quality.  I've listened to some that were quite frankly painful...  And you do an excellent job of not being boring.  :)

Downloading the rest to my iPhone right now and looking forward to listening to more.

Hey guys...  Sorry I haven't checked in for quite a while.  Life and all...  You know how it is.  Maybe with summer coming, I'll have a bit more time to spend pissing around on my computer.  LOL

Hey everybody. I just launched an atheist podcast based in Red Deer, AB - well, ok actually I'm about mid-launch at the moment. The first episode is up but I'm still tweaking the website a bit (Because I suck at web development and if this were 10 years ago I'd probably be using Geocities lol).

But you can give the first episode of my podcast a listen here:

And if you give it a listen, please give me any feedback that pops into your mind about it - presentation, do I ramble too much, does the volume change too much throughout the podcast, anything at all.

Still waiting on iTunes to verify my podcast but soon you'll be able to get my podcast directly from iTunes by searching for "Red Deer Radio" or "Picklemonkey's Podcast".

And if anyone else wants to get involved don't hesitate to ask! A domain like is perfect for a content hub, or collaboration.

Honestly Devin, I think it's more a thing of complacency. Not sure if it's more an AB thing or general Canadian thing. Since I've decided a couple years ago not to keep it a secret (not that I try to convert either though) I've been amazed at the number of people I know tell me privately that they agree. A few others I simply don't hear from, but a few strong religious types have really surprised me and remained good friends. Then again, maybe it's because they figure they can eventually convert me (^_-). I've got to try to be less paranoid, I think.

So is alberta strongly non-atheist? Or is this group just growing way too slow?

Hey all, I'm on the west end of the Yellowhead. Jasper, Hinton, Edson and such. Looking to meet with like minded people so I can actually just be myself in public for a change. Last time I did that I made fun of a certain widely held religious belief and was cast away from the coffee group. Fun times I have.

Hi all, just stumbled on this topic on gogle and decided to join (yes I am an atheist, googled 'Atheism Grande Prairie' to see if there are any, only 1 other on this it seems) and it would be nice to know if there is anything going down [atheist wise?] here in alberta

FYI, Michael Shermer, founder of Skeptic Magazine and author of (among other books) "Why People Believe Weird Things" is speaking at the University of Lethbridge on Sept 23, 7pm. It's in PE250 in the First Choice Savings Centre for Sport and Wellness, U of L campus. Email me if you need further info (I'm the organizer and get to meet him, which is cool).

Anyone from Edmonton want to start a coffee chat group? Once a month get together to tell our silly stories about the religious nuts?! I got no one to chat with who enjoys the subject that much and I'd LOVE to hear what other people have gone through! :)
