I was in boy scouts from about 5-10th grade, although I lost interest and didn't do half the activities after 8th grade.  Once at a camping trip they said some christian prayer and bowed their heads before eating and I just stared ahead.  For one session I went to a week long scout camp and they all went somewhere to do some non-denominational christian service or prayer, but I said I was Jewish and they let me skip it and hang around my troops tents...

I never did do all the Jewish stuff I thought I was supposed to do that I was taught in Hebrew school, because my parents were less observant than the hebrew school teachers and I didn't want anybody to think I was crazy.

Well, then go to church with them ... and laugh when they say something silly ... loudly.

Actually, I am, Fred.  We have an openly atheist ... mayor is it?  I dunno, it's somewhere out in the boondocks, in the western corner of the state.  He was in the news a bit.

Anyway, it's not enforceable, so it doesn't matter that it's in the state Constitution.  It needs to be removed anyway, but it has no actual effect.

no, but I'd love for them to "lay me off".
I'm itching to leave this town.

Meh.  And I don't suppose you'd get enough from a lawsuit to make up for losing your job.

I work in the Probate Department of the County Courthouse, and a few years ago a co-worker put up a big banner over the front part of his cubicle, very visible to the public, that read, "Christ:  The Reason for the Season".  Fortunately, our upper-level supervisor made him take it down fairly promptly.  Later on I became his immediate supervisor and we generally got along, despite our deep disagreements about religion and politics.  He'd often make broad statements on both, parroting Faux News diatribes, assuming everyone agreed with him.  I wasn't hesitant about informing him otherwise, although I tried to refrain from getting entangled in arguments with him.  At least I'm fortunate enough to not live and work in one of those states that defies the federal Constitution by requiring government employees to profess belief in a deity.

Here is the crap i see at work. i made a complaint about this guy for violating the company policies on religious/political agendas, but they did nothing because he's a president. bah!

Hmm, not sure how many there are around you, though.  We've got one in South Africa, I know ... same continent, but further away from you than the girls in Europe.  I think most of our Europeans are from either Britain or the Scandinavian region.  Lots of Swedes, Finns, and Danes on here.
