I don't visit the site every five minutes, and there doesn't seem to be any notification when someone accepts a Friend invitation. By the time I happen to visit my home page and discover that someone is a Friend, I've completely forgotten the reason I wanted to send that person a message in the first place. Maybe it was a forum comment? I no longer have any idea. As I said, it's mildly annoying.
You know, I almost mentioned, but did not, my annoyance with that feature of AtheistNexus: That in order to send a message to someone, you first have to be Friends. How do you know whether or not you want to be Friends before you've done some communicating? Or maybe all you want to do is enlighten the person about some point or other that it seems important for him to know, and that's all you want to do. But you can't.
I'm not losing sleep over this, but it's a mild annoyance.
Do you suppose there might be any others who, like me, would love to have private chats (via Yahoo Messenger, for example) but who are not thrilled with having personal conversations in public? (How do you have a one-on-one conversation when it's not one-on-one?)
