Whether you're a professional, a student, an amateur, an enthusiast, whatever! Lots of atheists love science. Might as well have a group for it!

Feel free to nerd out, link articles, talk about your favorite field of research, whatever!

I've been super busy with school this semester -- no time for Atheist Nexus, sadly!!
If anyone who's around here a lot wants me to toss them moderation privileges to run this group or anything, just send me (Sara) a message! Thanks!

Removed ability to send mass messages to everyone in the group. At 1000+ members, that seems like asking for spam.

Offer still open if anyone active in the group wants moderation privileges, but it appears everything has been going smoothly with all kinds of great discussions without moderation. Fantastic! :)

I just had a very enjoyable 50 minutes listening to Seth, on The Thinking Atheist pod-cast talk with Dr. Carolyn C. Porco, an American planetary scientist known for her work on the Voyager missions to Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune in the 1980s. She leads the imaging scientist team on the Cassini mission currently in orbit around Saturn. She's also involved with the New Horizons mission launched to Pluto. She has authored more than 100 scientific papers. She has given two popular Ted Talks lectures. She has won numerous awards, including the Carl Sagan Medal presented by the American Astronomical Society for Excellence in the Communication of Science to the Public, she was named one of the 25 most influential people in space by Time magazine in 2012, and she was recently elected to be a laureate of the International Academy of Humanism.

I saw a piece on the news last night about the Joshua Trees in Calif. are seeing the affects of global warming. I've been there many times and lament their demise.

We didn't have spring here.  We jumped right into summer.

Let's add one for climate change. It's June 6th and the weather here is like beginnings of fall or spring. Not much camping going on so far this year. You blink and the weather changes.

Yes, I, too, have quit the foolishness of "showering". It's a waste of a good nights sleep!

About 30 years ago, for an hour, I watched what was supposed to be a large meteor shower.  It did not impress me, so I've never watched another.

I got up about 3:00 a.m. and saw a few meteors. Then the clouds moved in, and I went back to bed.
