Atheists who love Science!

A group for science enthusiasts of all types -- professionals, amateurs, students, anybody who loves science.

Members: 1568
Latest Activity: on Saturday

Whether you're a professional, a student, an amateur, an enthusiast, whatever! Lots of atheists love science. Might as well have a group for it!

Feel free to nerd out, link articles, talk about your favorite field of research, whatever!

I've been super busy with school this semester -- no time for Atheist Nexus, sadly!!
If anyone who's around here a lot wants me to toss them moderation privileges to run this group or anything, just send me (Sara) a message! Thanks!

Removed ability to send mass messages to everyone in the group. At 1000+ members, that seems like asking for spam.

Offer still open if anyone active in the group wants moderation privileges, but it appears everything has been going smoothly with all kinds of great discussions without moderation. Fantastic! :)

Sean, I didn’t see your response as snark. You disagreed with one or both of my “Count on....” remarks but you are well within your rights to do that.

However. you didn’t say which remark or on what you disagreed and I’m curious.

Happy Turkey Day.

Good point! Mr Sarbeck, I apologise for my snarkiness, and to everyone else I also apologize for subjecting all of you to it

A search on “at Penn state, who is Richard Alley” returned the info that a Richard Alley there is a geologist.

Chemists and electrical engineers would be better qualified to say cell phones rely on certain properties of the materials used in their manufacture and on the mathematics used to design electronic circuits.

Count on Tom Sarbeck to fraudulently refer to actual science "fraudulent"

Comment by Tom Sarbeck on November 18, 2018 at 1:41pm

English, our language,

Has two excellent uses:

Poetry and fraud.

Count on Heartland to use language with fraudulent intent.

Count on simplifications such as cellphones rely on relativity and quantum mechanics to have at least fraudulent effect and perhaps fraudulent intent.

Many of our fellow citizens do accuse scientists of not knowing what we’re doing. But, they do so by using cellphones, which are just a little sand, a little oil, and the right rocks, plus science and engineering, design and marketing. The cellphones rely on relativity and quantum mechanics. I think most of our fellow citizens really do know that they couldn’t build a cellphone from the sand, oil, and rocks, and that scientists really do have useful insights, ...
