Have you heard of the Peter Principle? "A person will inevitably rise to the level of his incompetence."

Don't worry about the mistake. I dropped a real clanger on the online discussion here today (or rather, yesterday). (And what the hell are we both doing up at this hour anyway?) Someone asked me if my Greek, French and Arabic speaking Australian landlady came from Alexandria. I replied that, no, she was Egyptian, not Greek. The odd response warned me I'd put my virtual foot firmly in my virtual mouth. Whooooops. I told my husband what an idiot I'd been, so I expect he won't let me live it down any more than the online A/N people will. Fortunately I can laugh at myself. Hope you can, too.

Padon the mistake. Unlike me, a little sleepy. It's 3:34 am here in Florida.

Zimbardo was very critical of the authoritarian personality. I remember his saying that these will always rise to the top like cream. It's just human nature and government.

Do you mean the Milligram experiment? If so, there has been some new work done in that area fairly recently. Unfortunately we proved to be just as ready to carry out horrific acts at the request of someone in authority.

He was my teacher for Intro to Psych in 1964 at NYU. I enjoyed the course so much I became a Psych major and later had him for Social Psych. I wanted to go on in Social but graduate school was no longer excempt from the draft. I had to give up my aspirations.

He was gracious to write a laudatory review of Mirror Reversal. We still communicate but he's very busy travelling and lecturing. He changed my life.

Even in those days he was talking about the Ingrum experiment at Yale. About getting subjects to administer pain on command. Says a lot about human nature.

Zimbardo had not written The Lucifer Effect when I was doing my training. At that stage he was famous for the Stanford Prison experiment..

I had an ongoing email communication with Phillip last year as part of my attempt to help a colleague survive a nasty legal battle. Interesting guy.

Rosemary, I surmised you were a psychologist from your writings. Let me ask you: did you study Phil Zimbardo and the Lucifer Effect at all?

Whipple had it easy with an Introductory Psych class of a mere 30 students. There 500 in mine!

Your site comes up with an Adults Only warning. Are you aware of this?

I might as well post my info for anyone who enjoys my writing.

Mirror Reversal on Amazon.

My only atheist blog is the one hosted by A/N
I am not sure I could handle another one.
I run an origami one at
a psychology website at (not maintained at the moment) and a legal bungle site (anonymous, and not telling :-) )
