Documentation of black atheism, freethought, & humanism on the web can be found in my atheist web guide.

It's good to see other black freethinkers. Sometimes it feels like I am all alone...

In a very short time, this group has become, as of today, the largest online group of its kind in the English-speaking cyberworld, as far as I can tell. Various members have their own thing going. I'm guessing The Infidel Guy has the largest enterprise of us all; it's a general purpose atheist group, in which topics of special interest to this one are sometimes addressed, and you should check out his pages and site as well as support his efforts if you can.

Judging from his brief autobio, new member Dave Myers has had quite a life ordeal. Fortunately, the biracial (or whatever term you prefer) people I know have not had such a hard time of it. One would hope that people in this position have a far more objective view of society than most and can see the artificiality--and barbarity!--of segregating social groups and confining them within rigid categories. People who live outside of approved social categories, if they are reflective and have sufficient experience of the world, are best positioned to perceive the smallness and absurdity of the society in which they live. It becomes evident as well that all of popular culture is designed to suppress one's individual perception of the world. I hope it is evident that, the name of this group notwithstanding, there is no intention here to reinforce social divisions. However, history has brought us to this place, and one thing you will find here that you won't find in Dawkins, Harris, Dennett, Wilson, Shermer, and other leading lights of atheism and humanism is a sense of history.

This wall is, I think, best for introductions. Substantive discussions are best held in the discussion forum.

I'm happy to have found this group ... when I registered thismorning, and was asked to classify myself, I chose "agnostic" . My reasoning is that I do not have enough "facts" for me to place myself in the "atheist" category ; although I highly doub't the existence of any "super-natural" entity , and have investigated theologic theory to the extent that I am convinced of its' fallacy , it's only been in the past 4-5 years that I have been guided to reading that has seriously challenged the euro-centric inculcation of my youth ... and because there have been so many other concepts about what I had learned to accept as "racial - reality" that I have had to re-calibrate , I most probably need 'abit' more time and study .

Well, well, today we have reached a landmark: our group now has 50 members. Two more and we will have the largest group of its kind on the web (in the English-speaking world, at any rate). We already have the best.

An holy genicide of intellectual thought. If i was not able to eat food freely. How could I say masters religion was based on folk tales.

Perhaps we could continue this discussion by initiating a new topic in the discussion section. It is distressing to realize that not only one's own environment--in my case the USA--is irrational, but that it's just as bad everywhere.

"I call it a Genocide of intellectual thought, an emergency situation," Philip Copeman, I do agree with you. It is very sad.

Also, I am the only one in my family who take that stance, and maybe the only Grenadian, I haven’t known of anyone else.

Well "Freethinker" agrees with me. Black atheists are a rarity world wide. I am harsher - I call it a Genocide of intellectual thought, an emergency situation.
