The New Atheism: Taking a Stand for Science and Reason by Victor J. Stenger is great.

Hi All,

Long time atheist, new to Atheist Nexus. I can't tell you all how great it's been to find this group. My younger brother (16) and I are the only "semi-out" atheists in the fam, and let me tell you it's fucking rough. Just this past Xmas, our mother tried to force us to say grace in front of our entire family (she's fully fucking aware that we don't believe in the insidious device for social control, suppression, and colonialism known as "religion"). There was a lot of "ummms" before we jointly parroted the same nonsense we've heard year after year. Awkward to say the least.

Rant over. But my younger brother would like to arm himself with more knowledge. Does anyone know of a good book or two that could help a 16 year old atheist. Dawkins is a little over his head. But he's a smart kid. One of his classmates asked him why he doesn't believe in god. He replied, "Dinosaurs," and walked away in slow motion like a straight boss.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

The Skeptic Hour
Atheism on BBS Radio

The Skeptic Hour is a radio show dedicated to helping people begin to think critically about everything, and ask tough questions. From birth we are filled with the ideas of our households and surrounding communities. Most of us never make it to the point questioning, because we are taught not to; but a few of us at some point in our lives have either a crisis of faith or something dramatic that happens in our lives that shakes the very foundation our unquestionable ideas rest on, and we suddenly start to see cracks and gaps in our way of thinking. We look through those cracks and begin to see things that were once hidden. Fear causes us to deny what we are learning, but as we continue to peak through the cracks, the fear slowly leaves, and before we know it, we've become freethinkers.

We hope you enjoy the show!

I tuned into your program tonight. I forgot it was only 30 minutes long. I was going to call to add my opinion of Obama which is much like yours in regards to him not pushing his agenda hard enough. I am very disappointed in him but I still support him. I worked my butt off getting people to vote for him during the campaign. Hopefully he'll get it together eventually. Take care.

Hey peeps :-D

I will be on the air tomorrow Tuesday 6PM.  I haven't really put a show together yet.  We do stream at our sight.  If you want to call 404 523-8989.  I may ask some general questions and take some calls.  30 min really Isn't much time to take calls but we'll see.

Hi Charone;

I was checking your station's website - you're on Tuesdays at 6:00? Are you on at other times?

Charone I guess the lunacy of gays believing in Christianity is no different than blacks believing it. They used the bible to justify slavery just as they use it to justify their bigotry towards gays. BTW is your radio program available online? It sound interesting.
