Hey folks :-)

I want to take some time out from playing games on my IPod to say hello and do a bit of an introduction,  My name is Charone. I live in the south, where I'm a producer and host of a radio program on a community radio station WRFG.  The program Lambda Radio Report is a progressive news program where one of the topics we cover on a regular bases is Atheism.  Whats great and surprising about talking atheism on the airways is that I have not received any hate mail or negative calls.  Most of the calls have been very positive.  A high percentage of  calls are from folks who have no other medium to talk about these issues.

I am also a queer community organizer and perhaps another surprise is that black queers in the south are, for the most part, VERY VERY religious.  Trippy, I know. My goal for 2011 is to work towards organizing a group of non-believers queer and/or of color.  Well just a quickie to say hello and that I have enjoy reading the posts in the group

Peace & Reason.

Hello non-believers!

Thanks for posting this L.Hunter. I found the governor's remarks to be quite disturbing, especially during these current times when religious radicals view suicidal bombings as "martyrdom". These remarks are also extremely arrogant as they suggest that accepting "Jesus Christ" is the most superior way to live. Underneath this pitiful mindset, all non-christians and all non-theists would be considered inferior. Moreover, the governor seems to have little to no regard for the first amendment of the Constitution. I am subsequently worried that all Alabamian non-christians and non-theists will be thought of as second class citizens.

Welcome new members of 2011, and new members from December, and anyone who feels neglected. The first week of this new year hasn't done a whole lot for me, but I hope you are all getting off to a good start.

Possibly of interest here, I'm trying to collect bible or other "holy works" quotes that support racism, as a resource - collection started here.  So many religious people seem to think that religion promotes love and equality for all, when the book clearly supports slavery and ethnocentrism.  Jesus, the long haired love-everybody hippie of the new testament was also pro slavery, and had no problem with beating slaves.  Hence the religious support for the practice for centuries of US history.  Jesus didnt suddenly change his mind with modernity, it's all still there.

I have always thought about the food & food only. Never gave a thought to either Pilgrims or Indians & the only time I heard about it was in elementary school. For me, it's my favorite holiday, because the consideration is food and nothing but food.
