Well. I'll be there but I can't find anything about his visit anywhere; not even on the forums...

I have it on good authority that Michael Shermer will be in Denver Feb. 17th speaking at Metro State. Not sure who is bringing him in but it may be the Metro State Atheists. I haven't been able to find out about it anywhere online but someone "in the know" told me and I thought I'd give everyone a heads up because it's coming up soon. Check with Metro State Atheists, those of you in Denver. Let's all meet up!

The folks who have organized and belong to the Central Colorado Humanists just down the road in Salida, have members from Beeyoonie. Really nice people, an active organization, potlucks etc. Make an effort to join them. I live just over Poncha Pass in Saguache, so it's a bit more of a drive for me to Salida, but the few times I've gotten to join in have been most rewarding. Again, really nice people.
You'll enjoy the group.

Hey Peter. You butcher the name almost as well as the locals. The picture is actually from a recent trip to New Zealand, but I do spend quite a bit of time in the hills.

Hi Travis,
What do you do there in Beeyoonah Vissta? I get my hand every time I forget that Beeyoonee is no longer a Sp. word. I am just havin' fun, that is not as sarcastic as it may seem.
From your picture I assume you spend time in the mtns. And from my picture you might assume I am an old fossil and that would be approaching correct. Peter Cordel

Hey everyone. Just figured I would introduce myself.

My name is Travis and I am currently living in Buena Vista. I'm hoping to head back to school next fall, hopefully at CU, but as always it will depend on my financial situation. There are very few non-religious people here in this small town, so any communication with other like minded people is refreshing. I look forward to connecting to some fellow atheistic Coloradians.

hi everyone,
i just found this group after searching for some colo members. is there anyone here from northern colo? im a evolutionary genetics student at CSU and founded an atheist group up here in fort collins.

i know ive already sent most of you a message about eugenie scott but just in case i missed someone...come see her at CSU on Jan 25. i know most of you are in colo springs but i hope you can still make it.

if not im also working with sean curley from the american humanists assoc in denver for an atheist/ skeptic conference sometime in april. and setting up another skepticamp with merto state atheist for around the same time. so theres alot happening in the next few months.

anyway its refreshing to see others in colorado who are willing to stand up for reason.

Kevin, be careful for what you wish. They might drop the XMAS junk and go back to the "never been gay haggard" or other even more unspeakable nonsense. I am with you in your sentiment. I take some consolation knowing that some friends and family back in KS have to suck it up, even more than we do.
That is like having one leg amputated and feeling bad for the guy with no legs. You still have to deal with your problem. What I have said probably brings no solace but it took your mind off the situation for at least 5 seconds. Ha.

I wonder how long it will be before our Colorado "news" stations start with their annual Happy Holidays vs Merry Christmas rubbish. I can't even watch the news anymore because it's all pointless nonsense like this. Apparantly the large religious population would rather hear about this than world hunger, corporate fraud, or politics.
