Horror in entertainment seems laughable now, with the real world veering toward a dark scenario. Ebola is more spine chilling than any hulking monster. I often feel as if I'm living inside of a…Continue

This morning I reacted to a zombie picture with a fantasy. I've often felt that identifying with monster characters, like Annie in Being Human, is a way to express a part of ourselves that didn't fit…Continue

"The Book of Lies" is the equal of anything by Lewis Carroll.

And Crowley definitely had a sense of humor that few of his followers got. Put a lot of paradoxes and philosophical booby traps in his writing.

LaVey borrowed a great deal from Crowley's Thelema.

Although LaVey struck me as distinctly atheist in his Satanic Bible - not all of his followers got the joke though...

@J.D. "atheistic Satanism" is oxymoronic: Satanism is a form of dualism and by definition not an atheistic position.  The existence of Satan presupposes the existence of "God."

When I was a child raised in a devout Christian household, the Devil really scared me, and media coverage of Manson murders and Satanic/Occult trappings of 60s counter-culture fed the fear. Now I have a nostalgia for Satanic conspiracies depicted in movies like Rosmary's Baby and Race With the Devil. I would be interested any of your thoughts on atheistic Satanism, and please feel free to respond to my discussion on the Watercooler forum.

Is anyone ever truly happy? We go through our lives hoping that by the time we are old and ready to die that we will feel content with how our life went. We try to get the best jobs we can, buy the best house we can afford, drive the nicest cars we can and put our children through school. This endless circle that just repeats as generations go by-and anyone that doesnt fit into this mindset is shamed for not being "normal". Now dont get me wrong I want all these things for me and my family but I have to stop and think (how brainwashed am I ?) We waste away most of our lives at work and we are miserable, unless your lucky enough to find something you "love" to do-It sucks. Which is why I have realized that I am never going to be fully happy in life because im wasting my life away working all these hours im exhausted and I miss my family-for no true pay off im just getting by. The american system is so messed up its just one big clusterfuck of nothing- Im not proud to be an American im just glad I wasnt born in a country like Africa or India. And then who fuckin agreed that "In GOD we trust" should be our national slogan (I didnt) Also, "one nation under GOD" -(absolutely not!!) Im not "under" anything especially a made up idea of a super being created by what should be mental patients. FUCK LIFE! and FUCK AMERICA!!

How awesome is this- SOAD is back together after 10 years!!!! They are on tour in europe currently but I heard from 89x that they will be here in the states late June or July. I am frantic, its the only band I can call myself a true FAN of. I cant wait front row seats + backstage passes!!! How many of you are SOAD (System of a Down) FANS?

@Samantha: Isn't it ironic that if you were a Muslim working at a hotel as desk clerk or whatever and you were fired from your job, you would have a lawsuit against the hotel chain, but (so far as I know) there is nothing in the civil rights legislation to protect non-believers.  To me, this is a violation of fundamental, First Amendment rights, since the 1st Amendment has been interpreted to mean that no one religion may be discriminated against, nor can anyone discriminate against people with no religion at all.  I wonder if cases have been brought by people in your situtation.  It could be that if you prove you lost your job from *telling* someone at work that you are atheist, then this denies your freedom of speech.  That is one way to approach it.  I am saddened to hear of your situation.

@James M. Martin:  Col. Olcott and I have a common ancestor, Thomas Olcott, but he and I are on a different branch of the family tree.  My mother lived in Ojai for some time, and we visited the Theosophy center there, where I got a copy of Murphet's bio of the Col. called "Hammer on the Mountain" (which had the best ancestory facts on our family [in one of the first chapters])  I have been around the occult community for four decades, and you are one of only three people who has brought that up.  The Col and Blavatsky got into some really interesting things!
