California Drought Is Just the Beginning of Our National Water Emer...

The Nation, Aug. 3-10, 2015

The United Nations reports that we have 15 years to avert a full-blown water crisis and that, by 2030, demand for water will outstrip supply by 40 percent. Five hundred renowned scientists brought together by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said that our collective abuse of water has caused the earth to enter a “new geologic age,” a “planetary transformation” akin to the retreat of the glaciers more than 11,000 years ago. Already, they reported, a majority of the world’s population lives within a 30-mile radius of water sources that are badly stressed or running out.

The image below shows a location well within the Arctic Circle where temperatures as high as 37.1°C (98.78°F) were recorded on July 2, 2015.

That businessman may not even admit to Climate Change is his business burned down from a wildfire or washed away in flood.

Some significant changes taking place on all the seas. I talked to a business man the other day and he declared climate change is a myth. I wonder when his business will begin to feel the strain?

Meanwhile in the Arctic Circle...

On July 1, 2015, a temperature of 36°C (96.8°F) was reached near the Kolyma River that ends in the East Siberian Sea, as illustrated by the images below (green circle).

Chris G., thanks for Earth wind patterns. I was just trying to remember how to access it. I like the option providing other options. I didn't know about that.

Here's a web site that shows global conditions.

"Tax-breaks, subsidized fuel prices and other government support amount to an incentive to pollute worth $115 per metric ton of carbon-dioxide" according to the International Energy Agency.

“If you dirty up the world, I will reward you. This is the message,” Fatih Birol, IEA chief economist, said Monday ...
“Many countries say they want to keep the subsidies because they want to protect the poor. ... What we found out was that of this $500 billion subsidy, only 8 percent of this money goes to the lowest 20 percent income groups. More than 90 percent of this money goes to medium-and-high income groups.”

The twelve month running mean gives a clear view of where global surface temperature is heading. That steep slope is scary.

This Was The Hottest 3-Month Start Of Any Year On Record

This is using a 12-month moving average, so we can “see the march of temperature change over time,” rather than just once every calendar year, as science writer Dr. Greg Laden puts it.
