Ex-Mormon Atheists

Ex-Mormon Atheists

There seem to be a few of us ex-mo's in the Nexus and it is good to share the particular intricacies of extracting oneself from Mormonism.

There are many very active ex mormon websites with bulletin boards out there.  Several of the sites have many stories of people leaving the church.  I am sure you could get many responses to a request on the boards.

Mormon expression is a great podcast and they have a very active facebook group.  There is also a private facebook group that is even more active.

Mormon stories is also another good podcast resource.  Best of luck with your book.

I am writing a book on leaving your religion. I am a former muslim and my story will be in there as well. getting people to contact me is like pulling teeth. If anyone here has an engaging story of how they became an atheist after being a religious mormon I would like it. It can be anonymous or I can include your name.

Kevin: Yes. I resigned years ago and was still contacted when my exwife wanted to get remarried. I kindly told them that I resigned and so there was no reason I would have to be involved. She then told me that the approval process was going to take awhile, so they got married civilly and plan on getting sealed in a year.

The t-shirt? There's a t-shirt? I want one.

Congratulations on your new-found status as a son of perdition Kevin ;)  I haven't gotten that far yet myself, but someday. Did you get the T-shirt?

It's official. I am no longer numbered among the saints. I have to say, I did not feel the holy ghost leave me when they removed my name from the computer. I wonder if my ex-wife will still need the first presidencies approval to get married again for time and all eternity?

3rd episode of Skeptics in Mormonville is up. We had a guest-host who was in a break off group of the FLDS! Strange enough he was allowed to drink coffee and booze. WTF?
Check it out here: Skeptics in Mormonville

Hello Apostates,  recently converted to reason, but I'm still technically a member.  I want to get more involved in supporting atheism, but I still have a lot of ties to the church.  Question is should I wait to get ex'd, or just have my name removed?  I'm leaning towards name removal.  Don't want to go through the court and waste any more time.  Any suggestions?  BTW like my Profile pic.  I got the Jesus Jammies on.

Thank you! I am trying to work with some of these groups, but mine will focus on skepticism. And the groups I have seen for that have been inactive (at least their websites) for months. Except for "drinking skeptically" which in my opinion is more of a meetup group, less of an activist group. There meetings are posted in the site calender however.

I listened to your podcast and I think it has potential.  However, there are several skeptical/atheist groups around the Salt Lake valley.
